Good location, rooms are a bit small
7.7
located near the central market, war remnants museum is a short walk away. good value hotel, but nothing fancy.
only point of critique i have is that they made us switch our room after the second night when we stayed for 3 nights because some repairs had to be done apparently. We didn't know what the repair was because we had no complaints but it seemed it couldn't wait for another day untill we checked out. thus we ended up carrying all our bags to the reception and up again to another room. Other then that we enjoyed our stay.

Quaint Hotel
Accesibility, Clean rooms, Hospitable Staff
7.7
i found my stay at halo hotel rather satisfactory, certainly within my expectations though there were some issues that could have been handled better. firstly, my partner and i arrived on the wee hours of the morning, and expecting that there could be some complications to my stay, i had informed the staff before-hand. needless to stay, the receptionist that night didnt see my reservation and was suggesting i go to their sister hotel, a fifteen minute walk away. thankfully, the bell boy (who didnt speak a word of english) read my voucher and read the reservations list, and had the clarity to tell the reception that i was already booked with them and that my room was ready. minor slip up, nothing worth having a cow with :) other than that, my stay was very pleasant. the rooms are clean and cleaned everyday. the bathrooms are a bit tight but still charming. its a very intimate hotel and i certainly wouldnt mind staying there again.
Shopping Tip:
the Ben Thanh Market is a shopping haven for bargain hunters. It also is sadly a haven for unscrupulous people preying on unsuspecting tourists so being diligent in keeping one aware of their surroundings and belongings is always advised. you may encounter some rather more enthusiastic vendors "forcing" you to buy their wares but don't get alarmed, i guess these are just how they are in vietnam...engaging :) they may occasionally also slap your butt. i had mine done to TWICE. i just found it amusing.
ALSO!!!! be careful about handing out you cash. i have never seen so many ZEROES on a paper bill in my life so it can be rather disorienting when it comes to paying. my partner and I had the unfortunate experience of handing a taxi driver 250,000 Dong, for a trip that only cost us 23,000. no wonder the taxi driver was so eager to have us get off. no problem to, converted to our money, it still was cheaper. we just consoled ourselves that he most probably needed the money more.

Great location with good reception service
Best location and nice staff

very near to the ben thanh market (a stone throw distance from hotel) and also near to reunification palace. the room is comfortable and the sky shower is nice although the bathroom is small. worth to stay.
Shopping Tip:
Found it cheaper if you direct purchase the souvenir from the "Fixed Price" shop in the Ben Thanh Market instead of Night Market or the shop that require "bargain".

a place that features home attributes
it has a different feel amongst the other hotels, it has a sense of home to it
8.3
what i saw in the internet page, is exactly what it is -- it has a nice feel to it, offers comfort after a long day of shopping or tour. we were supposed to be in a superior room but we were offered to take an upgrade for free :), they gave us a deluxe room instead.
we arrived in the hotel around 8.30am, we thought we wouldn't be allowed to check in early, because we didn't send any request to it. but they were very much kind to check us in early. the receptionists are very pleasant, kind and helpful. the service gets a thumbs up.
the bathroom was a great feature to the room, they used different materials, i especially loved the bricks. the dining area was also very nice, they had a nice break of open area with a fountain and a fish pond. and the place was very clean.
you can also ask the receptionist to arrange and schedule the tours that you want to take. we had 3 tours scheduled and they will also pick you up in the hotel and take you back again.
the only thing i didn't enjoy much was the elevator, which had a funny smell. and the breakfast was served a bit late than expected.
but as a total, i would go back to this hotel if ever i do visit Vietnam again in the future :)
Shopping Tip:
you must know how to bargain :) otherwise you'd be left with an empty pocket with a few items in hand only.

Quality accommodation but disappointing breakfast
Central location and comfortable beds
7
I stayed at Halo with friend for a few days stop-over in HCMC. Great central location next to Ben Than market within easy access to sights, shops and restaurants. Our room was quite small but the beds were very comfortable and the room was surprisingly quiet. The only bigger disappointment was the breakfast - no real Vietnamese coffee available (only Nescafe), staff mixed orders a lot etc. so would recommend not paying for breakfast up front but rather exploring the market, cafes and bakeries nearby instead.
