Sorry to say "Goodbye" to Hello Hotel

Just adding to previous comments. Hello Hotel more than lived up to the hype. The staff is amazing and super friendly. Room 6 was very clean, there are great restaurants just down the alley. Breakfast is basic but tasted fine. If you stay here look for the friendly grey kitten who wanders around the front of the hotel and tell her that Neil said hello.

Great hotel - near all the restaurants/bars of Pham Ngu Lao but actually really quiet so could get a good night's sleep. Clean and comfortable, decent breakfast, and the staff were really helpful.

This hotel is only rated one star but should definitely be more. We stayed in a superior room which was very bright with a window. The facilities were better than we had expected considering that it was only one star and the location was great! What really made our stay great was the staff. They were very friendly and smiley and helped us out with booking our tours and coach. They even packed us a little breakfast on our last day because we didn't have time to have it before we left. We would definitely stay again.

Charming, Beautiful & Felt Like Home!

We were truly blown away with just how lovely the hotel and staff were! When we arrived check in was easy, we were there early and as the room wasn't ready they let us leave our bags as we explored the city to get some food.
The location is great, right around the corner from a busier backpacker street full of restaurants and bars, but far enough away not to be disturbed by the noise. After getting food and returning our bags had already been taken up to our room which we were then shown to and it was lovely. A big double bed, nice bathroom/washroom and enough space to comfortably leave bags without feeling too cluttered.
We initially only booked 1 night however quickly booked a second night as we liked it so much. The breakfast in the morning was great, we had fresh vietnamese iced coffee which is incredible, plus scrambled eggs and bacon with great crusty bread.
We ended up booking a 2 day tour of the Mekong delta which had an overnight stay and returned back to Ho Chi Minh. As we had a few more days left we ended up booking another 3 nights at Hello Hotel, and when we went on the trip they let us leave our suitcases so we didn't have to haul them around on the trip which made our life so much easier.
Moving off from here we were heading up to Phnom Penh in Cambodia and were able to book the bus from the hotel which came and collected us in the morning. Nothing was too much trouble and even when my bracelet exploded and beads went everywhere, I helped pick them up and said to throw it away however one of the staff got it fixed and presented it to me in the morning!
We were truly overwhelmed by how friendly and caring the staff were, they really made our stay feel like a home and we were sad to say goodbye.
If your looking to stay in Ho Chi Minh then Hello Hotel should be your choice, THANK YOU!

Our stay at the hotel was generally okay. We liked the fact that we had a quiet room at the top floor and have access to a mini-garden and balcony (though you have to climb a few steps of stairs). The hotel is also centrally-located, so the tourist areas in the city are at a walking distance. One thing I didn't like was that even though we advised via Agoda special request note that we were coming in arriving early at Saigon at the ungodly hour of 2am (and was willing to pay extra for the early check-in), the hotel was locked from outside when we arrived and there was no room available. We had to look around the vicinity for another hotel to check-in.

Hello Hotel has underrated itself at 1 star. It is really comfortable and really well located with some excellent staff. They will advise you on anything, so please ask them for help. The room was a good size and comfortable with good air conditioning (very important in Vietnam). The lively market is just down the road also, with the cinema close by and lots of bars and shops in the main backpackers area.

Adequate but unlikely to return

As a mobility impaired traveller, it was *very* difficult for me to get to my room, which was on the 3rd floor. There is no lift and the staircase is quite small. Definitely not for anyone with mobility issues. The hotel was hard to find initially. It is at the end of a laneway which was not well signposted. The staff were very friendly and did their best to help. The breakfast was passable but in the future, I'd go elsewhere for breakfast.
