Clean hotel close to central market

We enjoyed our stay at the Hoang Hai Long 2 Hotel. Our room was clean and quiet, even though it was at the front overlooking a busy lane. Breakfast was good. Location is close to the central market and walking tours of Saigon.
We took the hotel advised trip to the Mekong and that was good. No complaints about the hotel.
Travel tip:
do not be tempted to buy a cheap imitation watch at the central saigon market. after many years of travelling i finally capitulated and bought two due to the fact they are very well presented. the obvous result was that now i have two non working rubbish watches.

The hotel is good. we stay there for 3. The the room is big enough for the 2 of us and maintained daily.
The breakfast is good and you can choose from oriental to western breakfast food.
Though there is a little difficulty with english communication, but over all its ok.
Travel tip:
just be careful with the taxi you hire. dont get taxi from airport without company name or sticker on the car. or a private taxi. tey will rob you with so much fare and toll ticket. better get Vinasun Taxi.

Large room but very late check-ins ..

the checkins was unusually very late, was told to come back to hotel @2pm and even @2:30pm the room is not ready. after a couple of negotiations they relent but gave me a twin bed instead of double bed (originally reserved for me).
the room is nice and big, however the ventilation is leaking and we were getting 2nd hand smoke from other rooms (also non smoking rooms) every night. apart from that the stay was pleasant.
Shopping Tip:
Do visit alleyway adjoining Ben Tanh market as they usually give better discounts or less agressive in marketing their product to you. Some may even accept your local currency at superbly good rate (avoiding double exchange rate tax)

Lovely hotel and service with a smile

well, we are very happy with this hotel. all your staff are good always smiling and ever willing to help the guests. porters are also good, breakfast is good , plenty to eat.
the chamber maids are helpful and hardworking, we are very satisfied with this hotel and will definitely come back and will also recommend all our friends to this hotel. its location is also good and the area around this hotel is very safe too.
oh before l forget, your staff packed our breakfast because we have to leave at 5am. before we board the taxi your staff brought the breakfast to us in 2 plastic bags. l have not seen this kind of service before in all my traveling, this is really very very nice of them to think and care for us.
