It is about 2 minutes walk to Ben Thanh Market (the famous market in the city) and 5 minutes taxi to the city central where you can enjoy the shopping areas on Dong Khoi street, historical buildings and museums.
Nice room, small but reasonably clean. Not all the hotel staff can speak English and some of the staff was rude and not very helpful. The foods were also quite pricey but i don't care that much ... Overall our 3 nights stay were very satisfying!

I truly enjoyed my stay in Hoang Hai Long 1. Haven't find any negative sign of this hotel. Our room is great and clean. The staffs are polite and kind, especially Kevin from the City Tour desk. He speaks not so bad English and Mandarin. Any help or advise you need just ask him will do and he'll help you with patience. The breakfast is awesome with plenty of choices. Location is great too. Worth it!
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Try not to use any transport such as taxis, as your legs are the best transport there. You can basically walk to all the hot spots by foot.

would recommend this hotel as it is very close to the market and there are plenty of great street food or restaurant within minutes of walking distance. would definately stay there again when i'm back to hcm.

we stayed in hcmc and this hotel for 3 nights/4 days. the room was ok (nothing exceptional) with your basic amenities (clean, tv, 2 water bottles, no coffee though). the restaurant of the hotel is a decent place to eat. prices are cheap but they have a better variety including western food. breakfast buffet is normal as well with eggs, bread, cereal, coffee, juices etc. some equipment doesn't work in the gym and it is on the 11th floor which is like a heat sauna.
the travel desk in the hotel was helpful and a cheap way to book trips. we booked mekong delta and cu chi tunnels through them. both trips were comfortable. do make use of the massage parlor. the massages were much needed and excellent (and cheap !!). all in all, if you are budget traveller, this hotel will fit your budget and provide you with a clean and decent boarding. if you want some luxury, either opt for a better room or look for some other hotel.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
HCMC is a mixture of new and old. The place is dusty and traffic is crazy, especially if you are walking in the heat. Taxis are meter run within the city so there shouldn't be any problem. However, when you land at the airport, they do charge you a couple of extra bucks. You can use both USD and Dong for transactions. Watch out for the guys offering one person rickshaw. Finalize the price first. They'll quote 2$ in their broken english but it is only for the war memorial ticket.
