An elegant older style hotel, being modernised.
Location, spacious rooms and good buffet breakfast.
9
we really enjoyed our stay in this venerable hotel, with a third floor room which was spacious and well lit. this was aroom facing the front and not noisy as we feared. the bathroom has been partly modernised although wall tiles and door etc have been retained.as has the very deep bath. the location is in the grander part of this thriving city and we faced the opera house, staff were pleasnt and efficient and the rooms kept very well. the buffet breakfast was good and my thai partner enjoyed the changing asian food selection. we returned from a visit to hoi an and chose to stay in the same hotel and will do so again in three weeks time on a further visit.
Travel tip:
Be warned..the bathroom is not suitable for any immobile or perhaps very elderly person as the bath is very deep and the shower is not separate. It requires quite a hop to get into..Plenty of hot water and good towels etc but a problem for the less agile.

Beautiful hotel, best breakfast so far in Vietnam
Beauty and space, comfort and friendly staff
9.3
The hotel was really quiet during the day, but with a room near the bar, it wasn't so quiet at night, until about midnight.
I loved the courtyard and the main rooms of the hotel, in which they've managed to keep the old-world atmosphere

Charming hotel however a bit noisy
the best location in town for a ggod price
8.7
This hotel is very well located in the center of Saigon. Shops, restaurants, bar, music, every thing is in a walking distance in the safe enter of the city. THis is an old charming hotel. the sole negative point comes from the noise from the street as the city is noisy and the hotel windows are not isolated.

Great hotel, great location, great staff
location, efficient helpful staff, lovely room
9.3
we were thrilled with the hotel. the staff were great - they responded quickly to all our queries, and there were lovely perks in our room - chocolates every night, huge bunch of fresh flowers, a basket of fresh fruit! it was great. when we wanted more tea and coffee, they brought it without fuss and straight away. the room was beautiful, as was the whole hotel. old world charm. amazing location; we were so thrilled with that. can't really complain. if you are a very light sleeper, a room facing teh opera house might be a bit loud, but we didn't mind it at all. in fact, two of the mornings we were there, there were free outdoor concerts at the opera house and not only were they spectacular, but we could simply open our balconty windows and hear and see them perfectly. it was sublime! the fact that this was the hotel from "the quiet american" was the icing on the cake. get room 214 if you can!
highly recommended. ignore the haters; they're mad.
Restaurant Tip:
Lemon Grass or Temple Club. Try the fish at both.

Romantic Hotel
In the heart of District 1

Rooms are lovely and huge. Staffs are very friendly. Location is fantastic, is within walking distance to various shopping centres and have lots of foods variety.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
There are many old French buildings around this area which give it a very rustic feel and very lovely both day and night. There are also many art galleries who sell very nice painting.

Great location but below 4 star standard
Great location, good gym, historic building.
6.7
Great location, good gym, historic building and polite staff. Rooms are very large and spacious, but the space isn't always used well (e.g. massive bathroom, small sink, small bath tub).
It was our first accommodation in Vietnam, and a good comfortable, convenient location. However it was above average price for the level of luxury and service, you could probably find better value.
But if the period feel of the building and a terrific location are what you want, this hotel certainly delivers.
Hotel Feature Tip:
We chose to upgrade to the deluxe suite for a little extra, but the only difference is additional (significantly so) room size. The larger rooms feel cavernous but don't add anything else to the room features.

good location but not so good service
good location (lots of nice restaurants and shops around)
6.7
Not so good service. Staff talking loudly in early morning. Renovation of rooms next to mine, and they didn't notice me about that. It was so noisy in early morning that it woke me up. So annoyed by both loud chat of staff and the room renovation.

We were very impressed with the hotel.. We found the service was excellent and the staff friendly. They could have not been any more helpful.
The location was great and within walking distance to many sights.
Our room was large, comfortable and and had a great outlook to the Opera House.
The breakfasts were yummy, a good selection of food that suited most tastes.
We were very pleased and would definitely return.
