This is a historical beauty, but it's starting to look dated compared to the flashy Caravelle, Intercontinental and Sheraton all nearby. The rooms are dark and heavy and quite a few of the amenities are looking a bit worn.
- Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Be wary of the spa/foot massage places along Dong Khoi Street. They advertise cheap prices, then once your treatment is complete (i.e. a $3 manicure) they say the staff member who did your nails has no salary so you're expected to tip. The $3 you just paid goes to the "boss" and the worker gets nothing. Then they pull out a table indicating how much you should leave depending on whether you thought your treatment was "excellent," "very good" or just "good." It's all a bit dodgy. Best to stick to hotel fixed priced treatments.

The entertainment at the lobby's Cyclo bar is very dull and boring.

Overall, I was just a little dissapointed with my stay at the Majestic. Such a lovely old hotel, well maintained with fantastic decor in the bathrooms. I just felt let down when I went to extend my stay and was not able to do so at the rate provided through Agoda. Hence I had to check out and find another hotel.
When I arrived, I was greeted at the front door like a passing backpacker rather than a hotel patron. Although I carry a backpack, I enjoy my nice hotels!
- Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Head into the backpacking district and to the many Tour Cafes' for much better value for money on tours to surrouding sites.

Breakfast was lovely but the food during the day at the roof top bar was unusual. There are lots of lovely restaurants around the hotel.

The Majestic in Saigon was the first hotel in our Vietnam tour. Later we stayed at other hotels with high ratings such as Saigon Morin in Hue and Melia in Hanoi. The Majestic in Saigon clearly outperforms anything else we have seen in Vietnam. It is a must-do when going to Saigon.
- Travel tip : At arrival we ordered hotel car for a one-way trip between the hotel and the airport (30 USD). At departure we took an ordinary taxi: much cheaper, same duration and sufficiently comfortable. For Internet access we went to the tourist office in the neighbourhood of the Rex hotel where 2 computers with Internet access are made available.

For Muslims, the hotel breakfast has a very small choice of food.
- Shopping Tip : There is a great arts and craft shop with very high quality of lacqer and wooden things in front of Sheraton Hotel.

If you like Australian wine, great value at skewers!
- Restaurant Tip : If you get sick of Local food and need a western fix, try Wild house or Skewers, they are across the road from each other.

- Travel tip : Tell them in advance if you are on your honeymoon, we were given a bouquet of flowers on arrival and a photo of us which was later framed and presented to us on check-out. There were also rose petals in the room.

The breakfast restaurant (forgotten the name) is very good. You can see the Mekong river and feel Saigon's wind.
