Always ensure the taxi drivers outside place their meters on. In one instance, we requested the meter be placed on to ensure a correct fair, and a member of hotel staff walked over and instructed the driver to turn it off, and for us to pay a flat fare of 50,000 dong. We were going less than 1 km away, and were told this was a "good price." We didn't take this advice and the resultant fare was only 18,000 dong. I went back to the hotel the following day to complain, and the desk staff thought it was amusing. Its not that the 50,000 was expensive, but it's the principle and insult of paying for a nice hotel to be blatantly ripped off. I wouldn't stay here again on this basis.

  • Travel tip : Ensure all taxi drivers put their meter on. A typical fair in town should be 30,000 dong. Check that the meter when on doesn't bounce up the price.

As this is my first experience using Agoda, I am understandably a little worried if some nasty surprise awaited me when I get to the hotel. But throughout the booking process and at the hotel, everything went smoothly. I will certainly use Agoda for my future hotel bookings online!

  • Shopping Tip : For snacks, toiletries etc., you can just walk across the street to the Tax Centre (which is an odd name for a shopping centre) and take the elevator up one floor where you will a supermarket.

Situated in a good location, this hotel was very value for money. The staff were efficient and had a good command of English. This aspect made us very comfortable.

  • Shopping Tip : The Ben Thanh market was a great place to shop. It was also only a 10min stroll from the hotel.

Overall, this hotel was very comfortable and has a good location in accessing tourist attractions. There were also many good restaurants, especially the floating night restaurant on the river.
