clean, great location, friendly staff
expensive to book tours through this hotel
The hotel is very clean and modern. They upgraded us for free on arrival and were very friendly. The breakfast was great. The dinner staff at the restaurant didnt seem to understand english very well. the location is good, right on the main road. Try not to book your tours through the hotel. when we did our tours we realised we were charged double to what others on the tour were charged. also becareful with the taxis, ensure the meter is on.

Hotel Staff very courteous, Buffet breakfast was nearly 5 star, and the room were nice
ticket system for breakfast, no air condition in hallways or not working, some noise heard in room from adjacent utility rooms
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Great Markets , Restaurants, Bars, souvenir shops all walking distance - don't get tempted by cab offers unless you dont mind not getting change, your not prepared for the rain or not get used to the crazy traffic - swarms of scooters and crowded sidewalks.
Plenty of competing tour operators to Cho Chi and Mekong etc in the surrounding blocks. We used Sinh Cafe and can recomend as well run and good value, though there many other cheaper around. All in all the Metroploe is in a fun part of HCMC.

The general hotel facilities were good.
The rooms were not overly warm and inviting. This is not the hotel to stay at if your looking for plush luxury.
On arrival the bell boy opened the taxi door and within 1 min, before I had even got out, asked my partner if he wanted a massage. A very unusual request I thought or did he think my partner was travelling alone??
Shopping Tip : Visit Saigon Square for some fantastic shopping. Only 10 mins by taxi.

the very friendly staff who made an otherwise lonely and boring stay, bearable.
Didnt have any view from my room (looked into a small internal cavity)
I was in HCMC for a trade show and was not the most excited to be there. Luckily the bar staff, 3 girls and their manager were friendly, and made conversation in english and generally made it less tedious. The hotel seemed to be centrally located and a short walk away from the backpackers district, full of interesting characters. My stay was short, but if the need to go back to HCMC arises, I will stay at this hotel.

3rd Floor bar and outdoor swimming pool
Rooms comfortable and decent value for money.
Charged double price $5 tickets inflated to $10 for train tickets using the hotel concierge service. No real need when odering 3 to be charged this for each.
Just enjoyed a good stay at the Metropole, don't be put off by it's main road location near a busy junction, that's pretty much 99% of HoChiMinh City.
Staff very friendly and helpful. Also don't jump the taxi every time you leave the hotel,as all major attractions are within a safe (but noisy) 15/20 minute walk.
The market and the back packer type bars of De Tham are only 5 minutes walk whilst the better class resturants on Dong Khoi are only 15 mins away.
Shopping Tip : excellent Market nearby be prepared to barter like hell, you should pick up sorts shirts for no more than 50,000 dong i.e less than GBP2

Location, service, clean, staff.
The hotel has a very good location, central, a few minutes walk from the most famous and crowed market where you can find anything.
The staff is very helpful; they will help you with anything you need, from money exchange to information on what to visit, where to go.
One good thing is that they have an ATM machine inside the hotel.
The computers they offer for guests have a good internet connection, but still need to be updated, basic software like MSN were unable to run.
The only thing they need to improve is the breakfast, I don't know about the restaurant as I have never dined there. The swimming pool is small, but then you don't go to Ho Chi Minh to stay in the pool.

Not very near from central
Although the location is not very close to the central, the hotel was clean and good. We had an overall good experience and enjoyed ourselves. It is also value for money and I will refer this hotel to my friends or relatives if they are visiting Ho Chi Minh City. This is suitable for both couples, families or even ofice outings. Will stay there again the next time I visit the city!

Good hotel. Superb staff. Nice location.
Brekfast was over by 9.30am.
Was a good choice of hotel we made. Thks to Trip Advisor. Superb rates from Agoda ( whom we will definately use again). The location was very convenient , staff very helpful, specially the man at the reception named Mr.Thrung. Would definately recommend this hotel and would surely stay here again on my next visit. Loved the weddings receptions ( two) that took place with all the flower girls receiveing gueste in the lobby . Lovely sight.
Restaurant Tip : Lovely cafe nearby called Nino whose manager and wife were just lovely. The coffee was also great along with the spring rolls. Definately worth a visit again.

My room was refurbished and very nice, large and good noise insulation, that's nice as it was on the 2. floor
Location not the best - but only 15 mins walk form more central areas
The hotel is traditional, old i many ways modernized lately. As mentioned my room was refurbished and very nice. The staff was superb, from reception to restaurant and to pool side bar. The massage sections was nice too... The price is very reasonable all considered. I was not entirely excited about the location but is is manageable. And - the small but nice pool on the 3. floor was a nice diversion
Travel tip : "Back-packer" street is close by.

Central, friendly staff, nice comfortable and clean rooms, good value for money and excellent facilities.
A very nice hotel, walking distance from the city centre, recently renovated, with bright, comfortable rooms and an excellent service.
The facilities include gym, an outdoor swimming pool, a massage place and a club. The restaurant serves good all round food and the prices are very reasonable.
We are very satisfied with our stay at the Metropole and recommend it to everyone looking for a comfortable alternative to the more pricey hotels in the area.

Clean rooms, quiet airconditioners, good breakfast buffet, walking distance to downtown.
Traffic noise especially on the lower floors.
For first-time visitors this hotel can be recommended. There are equally good rooms available in the smaller hotels and guesthouses in the side-streets of Ho Chi Minh, but I would take a look at those places first before moving in. Overall we were pleasantly surprised. Do not book any tours from the hotel, very overpriced.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : A short walk into the side streets and there are many small shops, restaurants and tour agencies.

Friendly service, nice pool.
Not in a great location, would have liked to be closer to restaurants and shopping.
This hotel is great value for money but it would be nice if they had the gym working well and more equipment there, the television didn't work and you had to ask for the air conditioning and equipment to be turned on every time. The staff were friendly and rooms lovely but I think the place needs a little face lift.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : We loved our trip along the Meekong Delta for two nights, it is a long way and it is too far for a day trip. The Le Cochinchine boat tour was fantastic, great crew and good food.

Trips organised by the hotel are expensive
Metropole is within walking distance of the sights and a busy bars/restaurants street (that we didn't find til too late!)
