perhaps a little far from the airport if having a short stay
good location but metered taxi to the airport takes approx 45mins and cost 120,000 dong. good staff we had a rear room and it was quiet. market short walk(10 mins ) expensive, haggle hard. plenty of shops and restaurants nearby, sights, parks and bars
Shopping Tip : Mat Viet is behind the market and made perscription glasses almost while u wait. 24hour mini mart on the dining room side of hotel in Tran hung doa rd

I have stayed here 3 times and will definitively come back. Nice pool which is not easy to find in HCMC without paying much more. The staff is very service minded. Breakfast and à la carte restaurant is very good and cheap.
Location is perfect. The bar have a nice atmosphere with great staff.

Great staff. Good breakfast. Nice selection of food. Good hotel security. Undercover area to get out of cab in rain. Good room sevice. Good pool and gym.
Had to pay for wifi. DOnt use the travel desk - complete rip off.
I enjoyed the metropole. The staff were very helpful. The room was small and noisy. If someone in the next room had there tv on, you would hear it. They would clean the hall ways at 8am with a noisy vacuum so if your up and about, its ok. Otherwise, very painful for a sleep in.
The breakfast was nice. Coffee was not to bad - hot at least. Good selection of food. Restaurant staff were very nice.
I enjoyed my stay at the metropole.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Be careful walking the area around the metropole at night. Theft occurs.

Clean, beautiful, helpful
Very clean, beautiful room! The bathroom was magnificent. We had a view of the ocean. We wished we were staying more than one night. The desk staff was very helpful with transportation. We were across the street from the beach and walking distance to a wonderful spot to spend the day.

We only stayed for 3 days but found this hotel to be very good. Staff are very willing if sometimes not always on the ball which is more to do with it being Vietnam. Excellent room ( 406 )which was clean and very comfortable and well appointed. Had a DVD player which allowed us to check the DVD's and CD's that we bought. No problems with those either.Good position and easy to get to everything. Good value for money but like all hotels expensive to eat and drink in but there are any number of bars and resturants around it. Very happy to recommend this hotel.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Do take one of the day trips that take in the War Museum and Reunification Palace. There are lots of tour companies around the hotel locale.Cost about US$8.

In town centre, easily assesible.
Hotel is blocked by a petrol station. It take away the grandness of the hotel.
The water pressure is not strong enough and as such you don't enjoy your bath.
Although it was an old hotel, it has been tastefully renovated. The room is very pleasant and comfortable. The linens are clean and smell fresh. The hotel also provides a range of TV channels to suit everyones need. They provide good breakfast spread comparable to major hotels. The staff is friendly and helpful. Will definitely stay in Metrople hotel should I visit HCM city again. Value for money.
Travel tip : On the opposite left side of the hotel is a cafe that is cosy for you to enjoy a cup of Vietnamese coffee or a round of beer.

Service and staff are good
location is far from centre of city.
Totally good hotel, staff is kind and room is clean. But if trasnportation is in mid-night, it is better to check taxi name carefully because there are many low grade taxi.

Hotel is well positioned in area close to major attractions and accesable to other parts of city
Concierge have great language skills
Door men are charming, well informed & always ready to assist
Rooms & bathrooms are clean although basically appointed
Buffet breakfast has sufficient variety to accommodate most tastes
Has pool and bar open late
Restaurant lacks many basic service skills
Although rooms airconditioned some floors very hot and musty
Slow lifts, sometimes out of order(But it is in a developing country)
Smoking allowed all throughout the lobby and in restaurant which often meant very displeasurable eating experiences.
The evening bar is a little on the tacky side if you are a woman traveller, lots of bar maids in skimpy clothes desperate for the affections of the male patrons and the massage/spa available on level two offers a little more than I would like to find in a hotel!!
Five of us travelled to saigon in May 2009,staying at the Metropole twice, once for two nights and again later during our tour of Vietnam for another three nights.
Before leaving Australia I organised through the hotel to be met by transport at the airport since with five travellling we needed room for luggage.
I received a very prompt email response saying that this was confirmed and they looked forward to welcoming us. We arrived at the airport and were not met by anyone from the hotel, we found our own way there.
Upon arrival we were greeted with efficiency but there was no appology for the lack of transport. This happened again second time visiting even after requesting transport again.
Our queen superior rooms were clean and the bathrooms sufficiently appointed,no face washers and tissues weren't re-filled by housekeeping but happy with the well working cooling. Beds were quite hard and the pillows huge, none of our party of five were impressed with this lack of comfort but the bedding was clean.
Room service is 24hrs which is perfect when arriving late in the evening if unsure about heading out so late on the first night.
Breakfast offered everything that we expected so all were happy. Dinner at the hotel however isn't very satisfying, lots of menu items unavailable and god forbid if you order champagne, they have a good wine list but nothing was in the fridge so when ordered it would just be opened and put in a bucket of ice.
Smokers being allowed everywhere made dining sometimes distasteful.
The staff are very friendly but on returning to the metropole for the second time after spending a couple of weeks in five star accommodations the lack of professionalism and poor service standards are glearingly obvious.
We had booked the same room types but the room we received second time round was smaller and not as bright, I paid $20 US extra per night to be upgraded to their suite. It was huge, had great view but again housekeeping didn't re-fill things.
Shopping Tip : The chemist directly across the raod from the hotel is one of the rare ones in Vietnam not to stock much of anything, if desperate, don't waste time going there instead head down the street a bit further towards Market and you will find many others far better stocked.

For our first stop on our first visist to vietnam, the Metropole was an excelent place to be. It was a good location, within close walking or taxi distance to nearby sights. The staff were very helpful, the pool and bar area quite convenient and the breakfast was beautiful. Also the rooms are quite nice and quiet.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : When trying to cross the road in ho chi minh, just walk! Its no use trying to dodge the millions of motorbikes, just walk and they will dodge you!

- Price is good for that location
- Room is small but good condition
- Poor swimming pool and fitness room
If you go Saigon 1 or 2 person for little exciting experience, this hotel is best for that.
But if you are with kids, I think you better book hotel near to Rex Hotel ( that area is more convinience for foreigner)

Nice breakfast
Friendly staffs
Air-con needs maintenance (water dripping)
TV is not working
I think the staffs at the front desks and at the lobby were very friendly, from the moment i stepped into the hotel lobby. The check-in took me rather long to get into my room, but there was no issue in regards to getting myself a comfortable room. When I thought that I got a room with good condition to stay in, it was found that the TV is not working and the air-con has a problem with water dripping. However, the maintenance guy came in pretty fast to fix the problems once after I gave the reception a call. From my opinion, I still these problems could have been fixed before handing the room for the guests to stay in.
