Nice enough, but wouldn't go back

our stay at the oscar saigon was okay at most. having no window was a bit annoying, when we booked the oscar elegant there was no mention of the room being windowless. the staff were friendly and helpful, but spoke little english. breakfast was ok, but get there early to avoid disappointment. don't bother with the massage parlour, was forced to have a shower beforehand which was dirty and disgusting. very dodgy! bar in lobby and room service were good. very weird shower, nearly flooded the bathroom. definitely not a value for money hotel.

Great location and friendly service
Right in the heart main street Saigon and major attraction within walking distance.

Major plus about this hotel is it location, as it is very close to shopping mall, historical building and museum. Great selection of eastern and western breakfast serviced daily. Even thought the hotel is old based on the building structure but It is very well maintenance. With staff replacing fresh flower in the lobby area. The only poor feature about this hotel is the low water pressure in the bathroom, which required a long time to take a shower.

from the moment we checked in we received attentative service from all staff at this hotel. please note that rooms advertised in agoda don't have windows. if you book deluxe you will get a room with windows. the hotel is excellent for walking to various attractions and restaurant. breakfast on the top floor was good with a good selection.

A hotel that lives up to its reviews

this hotel is a great choice for travellers who need good quality hospitality without the price that is often attached to the big chain groups. the location is excellent - a 5 minute walk to the opera house in the heart of the city, yet it only took 20 minutes to travel to the airport at 8am on a weekday morning. the quality of the room accommodation was also very good, with plenty of electic points located around the room, and free wireless access incuded in the deluxe room rate. don't foget plug adapters if you're from overseas; housekeeping supplied me with one but i eventually went and bought one form the local supermarket because 1 just wasn't enough!
breakfast was also very good; lots of choice, fresh baked goods and fruit, eggs and noodle dishes cooked to order, and the view from the 11th floor restaurant is spectacular. room service gets another thumbs-up; the range of menu items isn't vast, but the food was well cooked and arrived hot (and promply).
all of the staff spoke very good english and were polite and helpful at all times. i would certainly recommend this hotel to friends and family, and wouldn't hesitate to come back again myself.
Hotel Feature Tip:
The rooms at the front of the hotel can be noisy in spite of the double-glazing. Take ear-plugs if you are easily disturnbed by the sound of traffic.

It's a very good hotel but our first experience was not positive as we had booked a "elegant room". To our surprise this 4 star hotel offer rooms without a window. It took some time to convince the staff and manager that I would not accept a room without a window. Following from the poor start I must admit we have had an excellent experience in staying at this hotel. Rooms are good and the location is right in the center of Saigon. I will recommend this hotel.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
The hotel has a tour desk which only offers very expensive private tours. I would recommend the tour operator TNK travel who organise group tours with pickup from the hotel.

Oscar is a fine location, city hotel. Nice lobby, 2 small lifts /one is larger / and restaurant on 11 fl. with a fine view. Not a bad place to stay for a couple of days shopping or sightseeing. Rooms are clean, staff speaks english.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
In SGN everywhere is near from Oscar - centrally located. Close are Opera, shopping centers, bazaars and of course the river with boat trips. Value for money is o.k.

good - very professional, courteous, friendly, english speaking staff/ personnel. very good breakfast buffet, served from 6:00 - 9:30, room was very nice and clean, hotel in a great location (right around corner and/or down street from caravelle, rex, majestic, but much less expensive than these other hotels. bad - i'm not sure where agoda got the gym/ fitness room picture (it's not from oscar saigon website) but the actual fitness room is not something you're going to be able to actually workout in, it's looks like a storage closet cluttered with a few outdated benches, light weights, and some retro-80's infomercial looking aerobic equipment that looks like it might break if you step on it. sum - great hotel for good value if you don't need a gym.

when booking if you wants windows beware that only the delux rooms have them. the hotel is clean and to a high standard. the breakfast is ok but this is subjective as some might find it great and others not so.
we tried a 5star hotel for a day and frankly for the money and what we experienced the oscar was far better.
Shopping Tip:
Great supermarket in tax building on corner opposite the hotel.
