A four star hotel only in price.

Decided to stay in this four star hotel for our last two nights in Saigon.
We were so happy and impressed with the 3 star hotel we stayed at (Blue Diamond) so we really had high expectations of the four star "Palace Hotel". We were so disappointed!
1. Rooms was so small.
2. CRT TV (our previous hotel had a flat screen).
3. Bathroom was dated and cramped.
4. Air-con was old and took a while to work properly.
5. No free internet, only WiFi. We were able to get free internet access in all the 3 star hotels we stayed at in Vietnam, even in remote areas such as Ca Mau (Vietnam's southern most city).
6. Breakfast was average, although you do get a nice view.
Based on the room alone, I wonder how this hotel got a four star rating. Maybe its location or other facilities (eg. bar, restaurant) got the rating, but certainly not the room.
Look elsewhere if you want to get value for money.

Awesome place to stay in sunny Saigon
Near all the great locations, easy transportation, great view of Bitexco Tower, really affordable

i think i will always stay in palace whenever i go to ho chi minh city. they upgraded my room to presidential suite and it's so luxurious. spacious bedroom, big bed, terrace overlooking bitexco tower, big fancy bathroom. it's near every cool restaurant, shopping center and bar in district 1.

Small room for the price

Reception appeared to have lost our booking and we were given the broom cupboard on the 4th floor. Room had no window and directly below the restaurant (karaoke party at night and breakfast in the morning). Breakfast was very busy; if you left your table unoccupied it would be cleared and occupied before you returned with your orange juice!

My stay was not a very nice good - room is very small & local at an isolated corner on 2nd floor. For the 3 nights that I spent, disco music was till late night (after mid-night definitely) for every night which driven me crazy.
Hotel Feature Tip:
Please request for higher floors whenever possible to stay away from the noise.

Great location and service, pity about the noise

We were staying for one night prior to an early international flight the following day. Or booked room was compact, but had good wi-fi and was comfortable enough. Unfortunately we were disturbed by the noise (mainly vibration) from the nightclub in the hotel below us, and drilling from the building site next door! All it took was one call, and we were moved to a large suite on a much higher floor, so I have no complaints on how this issue was resolved. I picked this hotel for the District 1 location, and the Palace truly is in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City.
Restaurant Tip:
We've always loved Pho 2000 next to Ben Thanh Market - awesome for springrolls, pho and lemon soda drinks. Yummy and so cheap with our good old Aussie dollar at the moment!

Customer Service was not at all good. They need an English speaking person on the desk not someone with a small knowledge of English. We found that we could not get our requirements across to the person.
The pool hours need to be extended. The service at the pool was also very poor. Pool supervisor spent all the time we were there on the phone. Had to ask for towels.
Ask whether you would like smoking or non smoking room. We found that our room stuck of smoke - disgusting!!!
