No way this is a five-stars accommodation
I was shocked when I was shown to my room, the doors and windows of the rooms face an open corridor. I feel like I am living in a public housing estate. Curtains has to be close all the time or everyone walking along the corridor will see you. It is also unpleasant to walk on a corridor with no air-conditioning under the hot weather. The size of the room is awfully small by Vietnam hotel’s standard, a bed and a desk is pretty much what you can fit into the room. Bath room is tiny with a mini bath tub why not replace it with shower? I lived at a four-star hotel the night before and I don’t think Rex Hotel is able to offer me anything better. The only things that are acceptable is the gym and the breakfast. Another turndown is during check in, my wife andI were asked to present our wedding certificate because my wife carries a Vietnamese passport. What kind of freaks couple brings along their wedding certificate on a trip? The problem is solved when my wife presented her Hong Kong ID card, otherwise, we would be forced to stay in two separate rooms.

Poor value for the money, scam hotel.
Location, luxury, history
I booked a deluxe double but was given a twin whose price would increase if I stayed more than one night. Contacted the hotel manager and received the double after moving from room to room to get the double I booked and checked out the next day to avoid the increase in price regardless of room since they said my initial rate was by Internet. Clearly a bait and switch operation. Front staff were acted like the Viet Cong and spoke poor English. Manager was excellent however. All prices were double what you expect even in luxury hotel, poor value for the money.

We could not be more pleased with the attentive staff the updated amenities and the historical attachment to the Rex hotel.

Very nice & relaxing
1) The location is perfect -right in the city center, 2) The breakfast buffet was on the rooftop and was so nice in the morning sunlight 3) The hotel style & design is nicely done
The first room we were given was smokey and musty smelling but the considerate manger upgraded us to a new clean room so we were happy customers. I really enjoyed the breakfast at the historical rooftop bar and we were lucky as we could hear the free vocal performance taking place in front of the Opera house.

Not happy one
Location, close to shopping and cleanses
When I am in Vietnam, I alway like to stay at Rex Hotel in Ho Chi Minh, Viet nam. This time, my stay I was not a happy one..... I booked 2 days to rest ( Feb 13 &14) before I have to take a long flight back to US. I couldn't rest both days because there was so much noises come from the room above my room on the 5th floor, not until I called the front desk and was told the the room right on top my room was under remodel and there is nothing they couldn't to stop the work. In that case, Hotel front desk person should have notify me when I check-in and give me an option to move to different room.

Good hotel centrally located
well maintained, good break fast, great location
Centrally located and was great for shopping and a lot of restaurants nearby. Internet connection was fast which is important for business travelers. Hotel is well maintained, comfortable bed. Breakfast and area is great. A good choice for business travel.

Great location, proffesional staff.
The location. The Restaurant. The staff.
Our stay was great. We had booked the airportshuttle at our arrival, but there was none at the arrival. The staff were very apologizing over the matter and offered us restaurantvouchers for the inconvienence this followed, which we appreciated.

Great hotel in central HCMC
Location, breakfast, staff
We stayed for four nights in early February, 2014. We had a great stay and more or less everything during our stay was perfect. The staff was really friendly and spoke good English. The room was very big and there was a proper bed for our son, not a small extra bed. The room was clean and well equipped. The breakfast buffet was outstanding! The Rex has a fantastic rooftop bar overlooking central HCMC which is well worth a visit even if you are not staying at the hotel. The hotel building has some historical interest as it was the place where the American press briefings, the so called "Five o'clock follies," took place during the American war in Vietnam. It is also a quite nice building decorated with faux-colonial artefacts.

Superb hotel full of history. A must in HCMC
The hotel as a building full of history, the quality of the staff, vzery friendly and kind, the roof garden restaurant, absolutely delicious
The airport shuttle was waiting for me with a very nive and kind driver, good english speaking person. As the hotel, only smiles and nice words to welcome me at Rex Hotel. The comfort of the rooms was amazing. Big large rooms, in a vietnamese spirit. Restaurant at roofgarden was extremely good. International or traditionnal food, anything you eat is perfect. And always with very nice and kind staff. Rex hotel is a fantastic place to stay in HCMC.
