Good hotel and position
Staff very helpful
first room allocated was very very small but on complaining to management, they went out of their way to allocate a more suitable room. quite noisy from road traffic but otherwise very good.

What a nice hotel
The location is so convenience
It is a great hotel with great location. I came here for a business trip and it is a good time to remember even the business is not successful. We will back here again in the future.

Fantastic location for a historical hotel
location, roof top bar, breakfast buffet, staff
the rex has undeniably the best roof top bar / restaurant in town. there are also 2 pools on the roof and the breakfast buffet can be eaten on the roof. the roof decor was special with lanterns lit up at night. we had the lowest grade room in the old wing and it was nice / efficient for what we needed. the cleaning staff was also very attentive. i highly recommend this hotel if money is of no concern, but perhaps an upgrade on the room if you can afford it.

historic hotel with room for improvement
location
this was our most expensive hotel during our stay in vietnam and we encountered very sloppy service for a 5 star hotel.the location is excellent, with many attractions within walking distance. but there is better value for money in hcmc... we had multiple issues during our stay here. we emailed to ask if an airport transfer was available, and the cost of which 1 day before our due arrival. after hearing nothing back from the hotel before we were meant to get on our flight to hcmc, i emailed to tell them an airport transfer would not be required. on our arrival at hcmc there was a driver waiting for us, who when we told him we didn't book him and had tried to tell him we had told the hotel, we were met with a blank stare. the cost of this was $us 35. we were willing to let this one slide until one day prior to us leaving the hotel a note was left in our room informing us that we would need to pay an extra $15 per night due to a booking error. this was eventually corrected, but was quite stresful. the hotel room itself was adequate, with lots of room. however as many people have commented there is a musty smell in some of the areas and our room looked out onto a light-well. the bed was excellent. all of the house-keeping staff we encoutered were very friendly and eager to assist. the pool area was lovely in the humid weather. the breakfast was adequate, with a good range of western and asian food. i would recommend getting there early though, as most of the food seemed to sit out all morning and was much tastier the mornings that we were there earlier.

Situated well in District one
The hotel is right in the middle of downtown so to speak
the room was large and clean... i had a junior suite. the only negative for me was i couldn't get the room cool during the day. coming from alaska i'm not as used to the heat and found the ac would only take the edge off during the day. it was fine at night, but during the middle of the day the room would not cool. otherwise, the hotel was fine and has a certain history/charm from the past. the morning buffet was very good!

good location but some rooms are really old!
Location location location
Overall,The staff are friendly but the rooms need to be updated. Our first room, the AC wasn't working. Our second room was old and dirty. Finally we moved to the new wing of the hotel and room was better.

Good location, nice and friendly staff
location, rooftop poola and bar, nice rooms in the new wing, well trained staff
the 4 of us stayed in the new wing room just after christmas, 5 wonderful and most memorable days. the location is superb, all the main attraction are within walking distance. the service was exceptional, the room was fantastic with plenty of room, bed was the most comfortable one on our vn trip, sleeping quality really good, we also enjoyed the choice of customised pillows that were delivered to our door, not to mention the fresh fruit plate, chocolates, newspaper every morning and a bed-time story every night. the old part of the hotel still remains and you can actually see the huge improvements since newly renovated both the inside and outside, so i would strongly recommend you pay a little extra and treat yourself to a new wing room, well worth it! huge variety at breakfast along with a wonderful view from the rooftop terrace. very polite and well trained staff, good english spoken. we absolutely enjoyed staying at rex.

Great hotel with service
None
booked a governor suite (new wings), huge bathroom, king size bed, lcd tv, 1 big living room with lcd tv, 1 guest toilet. welcome fruits. included breakfast for 2. the hotel is clean and tidy. stayed on 5th floor of new wing (make sure you booked the new wing, the old building looked dirty and dull, especially the carpet). the breakfast is on 5th floor as well. very convenient. saigon square is nearby, good quality clothings (ex exports, like polos, zara, etc). we took the professional vietnamese traditional photo in zen plaza (5 minutes from the hotel, took cab, $1, make sure to take reliable cab vinasun or maih linh). benh thanh market is nearby. the famous icecream is on the corner, bach dang icecream, a must try, icecream with tropical fruit served in a fresh young coconut for $2.5 only, lots of varieties.

My preferred Hotel in Saigon
If you want a change from the standard hotels
Not only for the location in central Saigon, but mainly for the style of this place we always stay at the rex hotel when in Saigon. This is the opposite of any luxury chains and it still carries charm and a different spirit. The room are very spacious, well equipped and with the Retro charm of the Rex. Swimming pools and the gym are just perfect and the Terasse bar is a great place to be at night.

Pokey room and staff who don't seem to care
Spacious lobby with retail stores on the main level
Our room was in the old section of the hotel and it felt like a closet. It was small, with only one window that looked into the hallway. Amenities were minimal and the bathroom was very small. We were very disappointed as the front desk person told us that it was a "renovated" room. We would not stay at this hotel again.
