Old-world charm that never really managed to get u

The Rex is a slightly strange place to stay; the hotel itself is in an incredible location, right in the heart of Saigon (District 1), and almost everything is within a five-to-ten-minute walking radius. That said, the hotel is undergoing renovations (still), and the "Old Wing", which is where the Agoda Deluxe room bookings are, is frankly a mess. Dingy and poorly lit, the rooms have barely enough lighting, old TVs, and the bathroom fittings could use some work. The new wing may be much better, but the old rooms are not value for money at all. Portions of the hotel are top-end: Chloe, Marc Jacobs, Balenciaga stores, but wicker/cane furniture and dim energy-saving fluorescent lighting all over the corridors. Also be warned: Saigon is NOISY, and if you have trouble sleeping, try to get a room at the highest floor you possibly can.
That said, the rooftop pool and gym are top-notch; the service and friendliness of the staff is also irreproachable. The location is also tremendous, and there's something very charming about the building itself from the outside.
Hotel Feature Tip:
The rooftop pool is a little cramped; if you want to do laps, head for the second rooftop pool, which is just one level above and easily accessible. It's slightly smaller, but less crowded and designed to be used for exercise, not just splashing about.

The hotel was in a good location, the rooms were of a good standard i enjoyed te roof top bar and entertainment very much. The swimming pools and gym were good.

Overall, we were happy with our stay but expected a little more from a 5 star hotel in terms of room size and quality and internet services. The pools and gym were great. Breakfast and bars were nice

Corner room, very noisy from traffic.
Hotel seems to use Saigon Tourist taxi company, whereever i have used this company, drivers very reluctant to use meter where as Mai Linh or Vinasun taxi group are no problem, by far the best and most reputable taxi group in Ho Chi Minh.

Horrible Room in Old Wing

The hotel located in a very good location, which surrounded with all the sightseeing, shopping and dining areas, which are all within walking distance, ie Ben Tanh Market, Vincom Centre, Opera House and etc.
While for the room, it looks slightly older with 1 kind of smell. I believe it's pretty ok if you were to stay in their new wing. Breakfast is nice.

The location is great but i stayed in the old wing of this hotel when i was there. It was a little too run down and not worth for the kind of price i am paying. The room is big but definitely could do some make over.
