Great location, wonderful staff
The staff were so accommodating and helpful. Our room was clean and large with a compfortable bed. Breakfast on the rooftop made the stay special, with a great variety of choice for all family mem mem

Loved it!

My parents use to take us back to Saigon to visit all the time, as a child 17 years ago, I use to look forward to staying in this awesome looking hotel each year we visited. Now 17 years on, I decided to take my children, the service hasn't changed, the hotel is still beautiful.
The only negative is the swimming pool. It's now as child friendly and quite small and old looking for a 5 star hotel. All in all, we had a fantastic time, the kids loved and so did the big kids :)

not happy with room, room 443 was too noisy , we cant sleep on 31/12/12. then the hotel staff is nice enogh to upgrade our room to a suite but unfirtunately, the room has very string "toilet smell"!!! i wonder why no housekeeping staff notice to report for maintanance.
Shopping Tip:
Negotitate for 1/2 or 1/3 of the price in Ben Thanh market if you are not a Vietnamese... But not always ... Just sometimes! Check the price in the outside layer of the market as it is fixed price, inside the market ( in the middle) ... No fixed price

the hotel was placed in a very central but noisy area. the rooms are nice and clean, staff fantastic, pool very nice and clean.
very good service at the reception.
we were alloved late check out free of charge and received help with lugage storage. over all a very good experience

A nice hotel in a great location. friendly service

The location was great as was walking ditance to shops and great places to eat. Conceirge suggested some amazing restaurants to us which we loved. Suite was very spacious which is what we needed travellng with family. Gym was great with free weights and good equipment. Pool was not as great as in shade and not much space around it but ok for a hotel in the heat of the city. Breakfast spread was really great too.

Luxury hotel in a great location

We stayed in 3 hotels during our 11 days in Ho CHi Minh City(HCMC, the first is Nikko hotel, second is the Duxton and the last one is Rex. We like the Rex the best since the room is very airy compared to Duxton, we have a problem with their air conditioner and the room is very damp from the high humidity level since there is no air circulation in the room. The Nikko is good as well except it is a bit far from the city center. Also, the Nikko staffs in the restaurant where we had our breakfast is not friendly. When we ask to put two tables together because we have 6 people they seem hesitant. The staffs in the Rex is very friendly except the bell boy took us to the staff only elevator when first arrived which makes us confused as to which elevator to use.
Overall, excellent hotel. I would stay there again next time I am in town.

In the room it was a message that during the day time from 10 to 6-30 pm it may be very noisy and loud due to repairs nearby. It was not noisy, excepting a night time, due to signing in the Rez bar on the same floor. Staff did not directly ask for tip but made it obvious they want it and waited to get it.
A room was very spacy for 3 people (suit). Breakfast - I heard they are best in Saigon and expected a wonderful one: not really, 3-star breakfast and most of fruit was unedible (although I can eat any fruit). No seafood at all, good choice of juices.
Steam bath was not working - staff said they saved electrcity (for 200USD/night for a room!). They were unwilling to give towels (more than 1 towel for 3 people near the pool)! A feeling of a dirty pool was felt (as well as in the WC - towels from yesterday were still in the same bins the next day). A pool has a cold water - and it was not pleasant at +25 degrees outside.
Anybody can go to the bar at 5th floor which makes a hotel a market, they were always people around my room (which couls easily get into the room due to poor lockers, a boy from staff warned).
Not really happy - and bobody cared if we liked the hotel, when we left, no question asked, no wish wished
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
do: go to notre dam for a mess, give a shot to a post office just across it. do not go to the zoo and do not really wander around alone at night in district 1 (does not feel safe, may be rats and no lights, excepting a square with hotels).

Lovely hotel with very friendly staff happy to help in any way they could. Not 5 star but definitely 4 star. Pool area quite small & not many lounges. Fantastic location so most things are just a 5 minute walk away.
Restaurant Tip:
BBQ Garden is a great Vietnamese BBQ restaurant just down the road, 5 minute walk at most.
