Excellent stay for 1 couple of days after 7 weeks of backpacking around vietnanm and cambodia..we treated ourselves to stay before flying home to uk.Hotel is great place to relax away from the bustle of Ho Chi Minh City.Great room (3 of us shared a suite)and really friendly staff.Hotel had 2 pools which were larger (but still small)than other hotel pools we had stayed in.Fantastic finale to our stay in a truly wonderful country.Excellent value for money al fresco dining with entertainment was superb

the rooftop restaurant and breakfast buffet were exceptional - i'd recommend making sure you have time to enjoy them. location of the hotel was great for wandering around this interesting and busy city.

This is the third time I have stayed in the Rex Hotel in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Each time I have enjoyed the suites which are luxurious and reasonably priced. The tours are very organized and punctual. This time on one of the tours we had to return early as a relative was not well and this was handled considerately and very professionally. This hotel has a grand white marbled floor and red carpet entrance and all the staff are very friendly and helpful. There are 2 well maintained rooftop swimming pools plus a rooftop bar that has appeared in numerous travel magazines. At the moment they are renovating some of the older room so there is some slight noise in the daytime but otherwise it was not too intrusive. The suites are lovely with large beds, clean linen and good facilities. When next I go back to Ho Chi Minh I hope to return here.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
From the Rex Hotel walk down Nguyen Hue Road to the Bach Dang Jetty. There you can hire a boat for a 1 hour trip up the Saigon River. This is a great way to see the city from another angle and is a pleasant trip. It is especially picturesque at sunset. Agree your price before you go on the boat.

This is the third time we have stayed in the Rex Hotel in Ho Chi Minh as it is our favourite choice. The suites are elegant, large, reasonably priced and comfortable. There are 2 rooftop swimming pools with a fantastic bar that has a great city view. The service is incredible - everyone is so obliging, friendly and professional and nothing is too much trouble. We had a breakfast option included which is good value as the buffet offers a mixed selection of fresh local cuisine.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
If you take a short walk down to the Bach Dang Jetty you can charter a small fishing wooden junk for 1 hour. The cost is cheap, (agree your price beforehand) and you will be taken up the Saigon River. This is a great way to see another view of Ho Chi Minh.

Hotel currently undergoing extensive renovations hence cheap rates being offered.
Staying in your rooms during the day was not possible due to the number of jackhammers operating. Extremely noisy between 8.00am and 4.30pm.
Refurbished rooms were excellent and of course located in the heart of HCMC.
Travel tip:
Great value at current price while renovations are being done.

I accidentally broke two cups & one glass the first night, the tray which they were on slid out of the cupboard & had to pay $20aud. After much discussion they reduced it to $aud.
Nightlife Tip:
I would definitely go to the roof top bar but would not stay, photos & description of the room are deceiving

Construction, renovation going on in the old wing - so avoid if you are going to spend time in the room. It can be quite noisy from 9am to 6pm, even on weekends. I complained, and the management was very understanding, offered me a free limo ride to the airport as compensation for my inconvenience
