Convenient location

This is a very conveniently located hotel for the large central market and many of the attractions in Ho Chi Minh City are within walking distance. The junior suites are very spacious although our room was in block B at the back of the hotel and you could hear a cockerel crowing from a neighbouring block of apartments from 4.30a.m. The dining room provided a good variety at breakfast time but some items ran out towards the end. Overall we were pleased with this choice of hotel.

This was our 2nd hotel that we checked in during our stay at HCMC. We simply loved it and would strongly recommend it to others.. We took most of the sightseeing tours from the package the hotel offered. Price were reasonable compared to our 1st hotel and the staffs were more than friendly to guide us and arrange for taxis for some of our own sightseeings.. some famous locations were jz in walking distance but due to the traffics we took taxi instead.. Vinasun is a vry good choice because they go by meters.. however, thr are some who tend to increase the meters coz obviously thy knw we are tourists.. Ben Thanh market was jz few sec away from the hotel. there were a smal renovations in a few rooms in our floor but since we were out most of the time, we didn see it as a prob ..just that the smell were not good when we pass by.. Do try the sweedish massage.. excellant!

we are lucky to have a room facing the back lane. it will be too noisy if facing the front le lai street. many rooms do not have windows.
hotel staffs are friendly and speaks english well. check out time is 12pm but can request to leave luggage foc at the hotel lobby for 1-2 hours if have later flight schedule.
Travel tip:
ask the man in green uniform (from vinasun taxi company) in front of the hotel to help waiving for a taxi. this can avoid getting a taxi that does not charge by meter or has illegally modified meter.

We were able to check in at 9:30am, they were trying very hard to get all the early arrivers into their rooms early which was good. The bathroom was huge compared to the bedroom size. We had a horrible view from our room - dirty rooftops of surrounding buildings. We were surprised how quiet the room was though, considering we were right next to the elevator and other reviews complained about the outside noise. There was however a rooster that made noise non stop from the wee hours of the morning, which was the only negative! Room service was efficient and inexpensive. Breakfast had a variety of mostly asian cuisine, but also had an egg station and fresh fruit. The hotel is a three minute walk from the Ben Thanh Market and a 15 minute walk from The War Remnants Museum. Would stay again at the price we got!
Shopping Tip:
At the Ben Thanh Market, make sure you check the 'fixed price' stalls, which are located around the outermost aisles of the market. They seem expensive, but work out pretty much the same price, sometimes cheaper than, the non fixed price stalls. You will save time by not having to barter!!

This was our second stay at the Tan Hai Long. The location, right next to Ben Thanh market, is ideal. The staff are helpful and friendly. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, although the room we had this time had a horrible smell of stale smoke, despite being a non-smoking room. The staff were unable to move us as they had no other junior suites available. Breakfast was plentiful with a wide selection of dishes.
