We only stayed two nights which was not enough to enjoy the hotel fully. On one night I had one of the most amazing Buffet dinners of my life. It was a seafood buffet for $50.00 and it was incredible. Don't pass up the hotel restaurant as the food is excellent and not as costly as one would expect.
If you need to keep up your workouts you will find the gym allows you to do most or all of what is in your current routine.
Roof top pool is a bonus.
My original booking was misunderstood and thus I received a free upgrade upon arrival. This is what one expects of a 5 star hotel in this situation and i was not disappointed.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Watch out for the Tuk Tuk drivers, they are con artists in this city. If you agree on a price do not be surprised if they turn your numbers around after they have brought you to your destination. As an example. I settled on a price of 3 people for 50 (of the cambodian currency). During the journey the driver asked myself and the other 2 with me on separate Tuk Tuks what hotel we were staying at no doubt as part of their plan to size up how much money we had and how much we could be hustled for. At the end of our trip 3 people for 50 became 350. It was a short trip and this amount was well beyond what we should have had to pay.

as usual with sofitel, the kindness of staff, the situation and the feeling of french luxury.... the swimming pool on roof, the gourmandise shop for french expat or people living outside france and who want to find a good cake (not only cheese cake...) or just want to remind the taste....
only one point the hotel become very very noisy. i have asked for a very quiet room as very sensitive on noise and unfortunately i was in front of the lift and in a floor with a group of chinese people with doors open and making a lot of noise. it's really not the standing of a 5 stars hotel must of all when name sofitel and advertising on magnifiscence of life....
Travel tip:
In the middle of all the most interresting place in HCM City. You have all shopping, dining, site seeing, around no matter by foot, taxi or motobike...

Best service of hotel I ever been. Might be that we went on the Chinese New Year. We got the red envelop too. It's great since the first day we arrived, we've been given sweets every day.
Shopping Tip:
Don't go south Vietnam if you wanna shop when it's Chinese new year. All shops are closed in Chinese new year

Comfortable Hotel in great location
The rooms have everything one needs for a comfortable stay. The beds and pillows are super comfortable... bathrooms well appointed with L'occitane products

this is the second time i have stayed at the sofitel saigon plaza hotel in district 1. it is hard to beat for comfort. there are other hotels located in district 1, however, this hotel is good value for money. the staff is very friendly and more than willing to help out.
