Very basic place that needs a renovation

District 1 in Saigon is the main aerea for westerners. So there are a lot of hotels in many priceranges. The Trinh Hostel was somewhat decrepit i.e. not very clean, the shower produced little water, lightning was poor, the stairs narrow, no chair or table in the room.
But the location was excellent. In the middle of where it all happens. So, crowded and a bit noisy but close to bars and fun.
Will I stay here again? No, there are many better hotels in the hood for the same money.

Very basic hotel but really well situated in the heart of the backpaker's area.
Rooms are large enough but rather noisy at night, facing a bar open late.Confort is poor; cleanliness is not the main advantage.
Breakfast included in the price but not directly served in the hotel and with a long time service.

This particular A&EM hotel is very conveniently location just by the night market. It is right opposite the day-operation popular Ben Thah Market. Although Ben Thah Market is nothing too interesting, it is still something that most tourists will want to step into just to find some bargains or simply to have a feel. Eateries are many around the corner. Money changer (the goldsmith shops) are just outside the hotel. Also, within the hotel the foot massage service is very well priced. The room I stayed is comfortable and nicely decorated. There is also a computer inside the room. The staffs are ok. Nothing to complain and nothing much to compliment too. Respond to request is average. As long as the price is at a discount it is worth staying in this hotel. Otherwise, similar hotels environment and standard are also many within the vicinity.
