Great hotel in the heart of HCMC

Fantastic room with a view of PNL area and adjacent park. In the heart of the backpacker district close to markets and great street food as well as all the main sights of Saigon.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Be careful of unmetered taxis. They grossly overcharge.

i had a great time at this hotel. i booked a deluxe suite, which was big and nice decorated. will goo back there any time. but next time i will book a room not on the street side, too noisy in the morning!

Best Location Hotel

We were very happy with our choice at Vien Dong, which we found to be ideally located, and opposite a park. It is within walking distance to the market and some good restaurants in District 1. Also taxis are readily available and inexpensive.
The hotel staff were very helpful, especially when we were trying to cross the busy road.

Fantastic Hotel with modern facilities and deco

booked the deluxe suite (52sqm) and when i got to the room, it was more like an apartment with a separated living room and a cozy bedroom. plenty of room for my young one to crawl around. there were two w.c and a big bath tube in the toilet in the bedroom. small balcony outside the living area gives great view of the busy street of vietnam and allow me to smoke away from my child.
breakfast was average but decent with some one to cook omelettes.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Authentic Pho restaurant at the end of the street (turn left when walking out of the hotel) serves very good bo ko (stewed beef noodles). And down that stretch, there are many small pubs and bars.

The hotel is located near many tourist spots in district 1.The room was clean and well appointed and of a good size. The receptionists were great so were the porters.
I asked for a late check out which was provided free of charge.

Great location, good service ...but no window
Very central & walking distance to some places of interest & to shopping & bus station. A lovely park across the road with an open air gym - great to escape the chaotic roadside.

It was my 2nd time at Vien Dong, 1st time I loved it. Rooms are clean & have all amenties; service is generally good and reception staff speak English.
This time round I was a bit disappointed - I specifically booked a room with a window onto the outside - most rooms have windows overlooking the the corridor, which you cannot really open as otherwise any guests or staff walking past can look into your room. I walk into a room a fraction of the size of the room I had the first time with a small window giving onto the corridor. This is for exactly the same price. Upon complaining I was offered a larger room, however still without an outside window, given I was staying only one night I let this slide. When I requested help to move my suitcase from the 1st room to the 2nd room, noone came round & I had to do it myself. That said, they did let me keep the room for an extra hour free of charge on departure.
After 4 weeks travelling around Vietnam, I feel it is a bit of a hit and miss with hotels throughout. While I have stayed in some lovely places I find that when one express disappointment, people conveniently dont understand English anymore.

Best along Pham Ngu Lao

Same as previous stays, this is perhaps the best hotel along the Pham Ngu Lao stretch. Professional staff that exhibits care for customers, from simple crossing of road to ensuring guests comforts.
