Large rooms with all mod-cons
Good breakfast
Comfortable bed
Stayed here as our introduction to Vietnam ... really started the trip off well as we enjoyed the hotel and surrounds. Only problem that we encountered was the fruit that they gave each day - not exactly the freshest nor the most inviting. The hotel itself is across the road from a large park which comes in handy for getting away from the cyclos and taxis but also for relaxing. Would definitely stay here again.
Restaurant Tip : Just up the road (two blocks) is a restaurant/bar that serves steak and chips ... real Aussie style at a good price. Beer is also very cold.

Hotel was very clean,Ideal location, staff helpful and courteous.
Insufficient light in the room for reading, especially when in bed.Breakfast was only mediocre, fruit was not fresh, it ran out and not replenished.
We arrived on the Sinh Cafe Bus from Mui Ne and the hotel was just around the corner from where the bus stopped which was very convenient. The hotel is situated right in the tourist part of town and it is easy to walk to restaurants and some tourist attractions. We were impressed with the cleanliness and freshness of the hotel and room. We appreciated the free breakfast which was part of the room cost but were dissappointed in the quality. We would definitely stay there again when visiting Ho Chi Minh City.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Sinh Cafe Tour Company is just around the corner and we found them excellent for sightseeing and travel to and from Mui Ne Beach

Very friendly helpful staff.
Good location.
Well appointed clean and quiet room.
While the breakfast buffet was quite good, we found the Friday lunch buffet very substandard.
The smoke in the lobby and dining room was not pleasant.
We had a very pleasant eight day stay at the Vien Dong Hotel. Our room was quite comfortable and it was so nice to have several choices of English speaking channels on the television to watch. The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially when crossing the very busy street in front of the hotel. The hotel is in a good location within easy walking distance of the Ben Thanh Market. The breakfast buffet was quite good, but we were disappointed with the Friday lunch buffet.
Restaurant Tip : The Highlands Coffee shop was a very short distance from the hotel and had good pastries. Also FREE internet usage.

We choose Vien Dong hotel for two reasons. One was the location in the first district and the other reason was that the hotel was newly refurbished. The hotel met our expectations from all possible aspects. The room was clean and the service was very good. The breakfast buffet was rich and a designated chef made omelettes to order. Bottles of drinking water were complementary and new were delivered as soon as the old ones were empty. If we ever go back to HCMC we will choose this hotel again.

Central to tourist attractions, close to bus and tour arrival and eparture points, nice rooms, friendly helpful staff.
Poor lighting rooms for reading, breakfasts were mediocre
The hotel was a great overnight stay location on our way from Phnom Penh to Mui Ne beach. It was within short walking distance from Meekong Express Bus stop and to Sinh Cafe Bus service. The rooms and hotel are clean and fresh. The free breakfast was a bonus but could have been of better standard.Internet is available but not free.We would stay there again.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Go to Sinh Cafe tour company around the corner. They are excellent and have many good tour options.

Modern, clean, good service. Location is very good, easy to walk to all the main sites.
Noisy, due to the design of the hotel you hear every door opening and closing on every floor.
Rooms are small but comfortable. Staff is friendly. For the price and location this is a good choice but there are probably better options available. In Ho Chi Minh there are many good hotels available in the same price range, many on the same street as this one.
Restaurant Tip : Close by the hotel are many little restaurants. We ate one night at a little Indian restaurant and another at an Italian restaurant. Of course there are plenty of Viet noodle restaurants and other options.

The hotel is located in District 1 and close to Ben Thanh Market, Restaurants, and Sight seeing area's.
The hotel Staff make your stay enjoyable, the Breakfast is very good, the location is a very busy one and convenient for Foreign Exchange, Travel Agents, Shopping, Restaurants, and Sightseeing. I had a problem with not being able to leave Vietnam and the staff helped me find other accommodations as the hotel was fully booked this was so helpful as I did not speak the language and needed to find a hotel immediately.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Near Ben Thanh Market, Reunification Palace.

Location. Doormen. Happy time...
Laundry costs. No free internet.
Overall really good three star hotel. We arrived during evening peak and the security/door guys stopped the traffic and got us and our luggage across. They are fantastic with getting you used to the traffic, good at getting taxis and full of useful info. Happy time in the lobby is great, piano playing and cheap drinks. The room was good and clean, beds comfortable. Buffet breakfast is good particularly when included in room cost.
Shopping Tip : Internet place next door is cheap, Pho24 a few doors down, walking distance to Ben Thanh Market, Reunification Palace etc. Palace and War Remnants Museum worth a visit. An Dong Market better and cheaper than the other (An Dong Plaza a few doors away has shoes and sunnies cheaper) Bargain hard at Ben Thanh it's not so cheap any more, look around the side streets away from the backpacker area for shopping bargains.

Clean and attractive hotel in the centre of the backpacker district.
The Vien Dong is in the backpacker district of Ho Chi Min City. Everything is close by as well as the long distance express buses that stop opposite the hotel.
The reception area is very clean and elegant with a lovely bar area which was perfect for starting the evening before stepping out into the street. It felt very welcoming having a doorman opening and shutting the front doors. At times someone was playing the piano.
The room was spacious comfortable and clean.
The restaurant provided a full buffet breakfast which was very nice.
Restaurant Tip : Very nice cafe frequented by Westerners along the street on the corner. Very good for sipping coffee and watching the action.
Pho 24 is very close to the hotel. Best noodle soup at very cheap price.

Good location for sight seeing and shopping.
Big rooms, big enough for 2 extra beds for kids.
Floor 7 was very noisy because of the party rooms on floor 8.
The promised adjacent rooms were not available during check in.
We could not get clear expectations from the website but decided to choose this hotel since it was one of the last available for X-mas time.
One negative point was that we did not get adjacent rooms although this was promised during booking. Without apologies or extra efforts, the check-in-staff simply acted as 'take it or ..'
Other than that, the location is great and hotel is good but could be noisy because of hotel parties.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Within 5 minutes walk, there are tens of small restaurants and bars with great atmosphere and nice food.

Very good location, near restaurants and bars, and fronting a park.
Clean and has large windows overlooking the park.
Smells good too!
Bad breakfast buffet. Very few food choices and the menu is the same everyday!
Vien Dong is a good boutique hotel. We stayed at a deluxe room that had large floor length windows fronting the park. Adjacent to it is Milwaukee Restaurant that serves both western and Vietnamese food. There is also a pho24 beside the hotel in case you want to sample the local delicacy. I don't recommend eating inside the hotel as the food is not good. Anyway, food in hcmc is generally very cheap and delicious.
Our rooms were kept clean all throughout our stay. My only complaint is that the towels were too tiny for comfort. Vien Dong should provide lusher and bigger bath towels. The bed is soft and smells nice. There are chocolates left at night. Toiletries are complete.
The elevators are not high speed, but adequate for the hotel's size.
The doormen are very helpful. They're quick to offer to get a cab or help you across the street.
Nightlife Tip : Nightlife in the hotel is non-existent, but there are plenty of other hotels, bars and restaurants nearby. Pham ngu lao is tourist area, so you'll feel comfortable walking around even until the wee hours of the morning.

Clean and convenient. Close to everything.
Rooms aren't well soundproofed. Heard a lot of outside noises.
I stayed at the hotel for a day. The rooms where very large, nice, very clean, and seemed that it had just been renovated. Staff were very helpful especially the bell boys. Ask them for info because they seem to be well informed. Rooms aren't well soundproofed. Heard a lot of outside noises though. But the hotel is close to everything.

Fully renewed!!
Very clean and comfortable!!
Nice and friendly staff
Small bath
Noise in early morning...as HCM itself. So many bikes around!!
This hotel is very-well located at Dist. 1, very near to many highlights and close to the airport (9USD distance or 35 minutes if traffic-jam).
The hotel is fully renovated and looks quite clean and pleasant. Balance price-quality is quite good for being in Vietnam. Useful for both leisure and business.
Breakfast is also acceptable

Breakfast buffets are generous and very satisfying when included in the room price. The Vien Dong is on Pham Ngu Lao street, and a few blocks along there is an immense variety of nightlife and restaurants. Concierge and door staff are helpful and engaging.
Internet access is not free. Street noise can be a real problem in some lower-level rooms that face out onto the street.
I stayed at the Vien Dong Hotel when I was in Ho Chi Minh City for a recent conference. It is situated directly across a broad public park which is a very pleasant place for a stroll if you can shut out the incessant buzz of Ho Chi Minh City's perpetual traffic. The international traveler would find the rooms more like the average 3-star hotel standard. The deluxe room was spacious and very comfortable. Linen and bedding were very clean and of good quality. Some rooms also have high glass windows overlooking the park and small pond. Amenities are basic but reliably functional. Reception staff generally spoke good English, but you may find that the most helpful folks are the doormen (security) at the front lobby or just outside. Public transport can be a major hassle in HCMC, so your best bet is always to get a metered taxi as a relatively cheap means of transport to the main attractions. Access to other transport is poor, but points of interest such as the Ben Thanh markets are easily reached on foot, if you can brave the chaotic HCMC traffic!
Hotel Feature Tip : Ask the doormen (security) not the receptionists. The former are more helpful and are more street-wise. They know everything worth knowing and may give you better advice than the folks behind the desk. Also ask their help for hailing taxis and crossing the road - you'll see what I mean when you get there.

Central location.
Friendly staff.
Value for money.
Good clean rooms.
Noise from cleaning staff hoovering very early.
I was very surprised at the quality of this hotel given its relatively low cost. It is centrally positioned and some rooms have good views over a park. Rooms were spacious a clean and very comfortable. Plenty of bars and restaurants are within 2-3 minutes walk. The lobby bar offered a quiet place for a drink and was well served. All in all a highly recommended hotel.
