Lovely big room at a bargain price
Big nicely furnished room.

The rooms (deluxe) are large and expensively and tastefully finished with big bathrooms and lots of windows. One of the two beds in the room was comfortable, but top-sheets and pillowcases are not provided. The maids are cheerful, friendly and helpful, though they have limited English and sometimes goes out leaving the doors open and the building unattended. The location is great if you want to be away from the milling tourists and gauntlets of touts in the historic area. It’s under ten minutes walk to the heart of the old town, there are plenty of local restaurants, some right outside, and the best clutch of budget tourist restaurants (serving bia hoi!) are five minutes away.
There’s one downside to this place and it’s a big one: noise. The two deluxe rooms are on the front of the building, near the road. It’s not a motorway but traffic goes by all day long, many locals hoot almost continuously as they drive and have no problem doing it in the middle of the night. Light sleepers may get some between 23.00 and 06.00 if they’re lucky. Rush hour 06.00 – 08.00 is particularly bad. The standard and Japanese rooms (to side and back) may be better in this respect. However noisy dogs next door are a nuisance in all the rooms, and there’s the usual random shouting, screaming, banging, hammering and loud music you have to expect in this part of the world. If only some of the money spent on expensive furniture etc. had gone on decent tight double-glazing, rather than fancy windows that look nice but don’t fit that well.
