Would strongly recommend this hotel for its location and the price. They don't build hotels like this anymore. Looks more like a resort. Close to all the attractions and the Post Office is just next door. I was there during my birthday and the reception surprised me with a birthday greeting and a bunch of roses.

The hotel is in a good location, a few minutes walk to the Old town centre where all the good restaurants and tourist sights are. Large spacious rooms, excellent breakfast spread. It has a resort feel to it.

The security staff need to be more vigilant, instead of just standing around. There was a woman walking the corridor when I was there offering massage services, obviously she is offering services other than a massage. The mosquito nets might look very tropical but I think they are outdated, they went out when the French left.

• Travel tip : For good value dining go to Mermaid restaurant, they never fail to please. For an alternative to the tailors on Le Loi go to the Cloth Market next to the Market in front of the temple, see Ly Ly at stall no 5, she always try to please and her prices are good.

We enjoyed 4 days in Hoi An and enjoyed staying at the Hoi An Hotel. The location was great and it felt like a get-away from the busy pace of life on the streets. Everything except the beach was within walking distance. The staff were friendly and helpful. Adong tailors worked out well. A day by the pool was wonderful. The breakfast was not as extensive as at some of the other 3* hotels we have stayed at in Vietnam. Try to be there over the full-moon festival each month.
