Luxurious rooms, but food under par

we loved the rooms, the pool, the spa and the staff. the hotel looks like a luxury resort! but the breakfast (included) is pretty meager, compared to the other hotels in the night range we stayed at in vietnam.
Shopping Tip:
Hue is the destination for tailored clothes. But everything in the old city is far more expensive than outside of it. Venture away from the shopping streets in the old city and you will save $$$! And you can take at least 50% of their prices!

Great staff great town

we stayed for 11 nights and enjoyed our time. the hotel shuttle bus ran regulary on the hour but it was also a short walk,10 min, into the main part of hoi an so if your timing was off it really did not matter, not like it would be if you were at one of the resorts on the beach. the pool at southern villas was a huge bonus as it was big enough to do laps and was in excellent condition. we had a suite room with breakfast included for a very cheap price, however the breakfast was limited in what was offered, we had lovely omelets, coffee, fruit and bread but that was all you could have. we liked being just that little bit out of town it was very quiet and peaceful.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Try the Easy Rider motor bike tour. What a blast felt safe and I know that they make a huge effort to make us feel safe too! What a wonderful way to experience the country side.

Nice hotel is a little out of town free shuttle

We had a lovely stay the staff were wonderful. They had good english.We upgraded to a family room which was spacious with a balcony .The breakfast was very basic.The hotel is about 15 minutes walk from town but there is a free shuttle provided every hour finishing at 950.The room was cleal with good airconditioning. The pool was nice and clean.

Great hotel with everything you need

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Southern Hotel & Villas. The location is slightly out of town - but this isn't any problem with their wonderful shuttle service and use of bikes for hire there is no limitations to where you can explore. The lovely ladies on reception and the silk shop were so warm and friendly made us feel just at home. The wonderful doorman that helped us with everything including escorting my partner with his pizza back to the room with the help of an umbrella to keep the rain off. On our return to Hoi An we would love to stay again.
Restaurant Tip:
Check out "streets" its a great operation that helps kids get off the street :-)

Set up like a mini resort!
The hotel had really friendly staff and the pool is fantastic...

The hotel wasn't in the best location, but you know what? They have a free shuttle bus for guests that runs every hour into Hoi An central which we utilized... They were really helpful organizing tours and did a great job of the laundry, cheap too...
The pool was really nice and if your interested they have a spa and sauna which is ok, and the breakfast is passable too...
Overall it was really nice, we were really impressed with the three star rating we didn't expect so much!
Shopping Tip:
Check out the southern hotels sister shop, 'Southern Silk'... This little place did a great job making a few suits for my cousin and I.

we were disappointed with the deluxe villa and upgraded to the suite so were very pleased with the room but you could be disappointed with some rooms as they didn't seem to have much light. our room was lovely with verandas overlooking pool. service was good. location was a little out of the main town but this was offset by complimentary shuttle bus, bike and motorcycle hire was cheap. pool was very clean. breakfast always included fresh fruit and eggs.
