Beautiful design, amazing pool, very varied and very delicious breafast buffet From the moment of our arrival we were in heaven- what a tresure this hotel is. It was our favorite of the trip- one of the days was very rainy but we had a terrific time hanging out in the various art deco common areas, listening to good old Jazz, playing cards and relaxing. And the infinity pool is incredible- huge, beautifullt tiled and landscaped, over-looking the Perfume River

Stylish, atmospheric and interesting, loved the art deco styled rooms and areas. Beautiful dining setting. Lapses in attention to detail eg- use of the blender in bar area makes conversation impossible. Inconsistency in staff attitude. Overall nice experience and good place to stay in Hue and use as a base but don't expect it to be the perfect 5 Star, we found lapses in small thing let down a great setting and physical property.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : if you have limited time the must sees are the Citidel and the emperors tombs.

clean, friendly staff, excellent food, great location, free internet access nothing--everything was great La Residence was a refreshing hotel. The rooms have beautiful hardwood floors and many elegant touches. Outside there is a gorgeous garden and pool. The staff is very friendly and the hotel goes out of its way to make sure that everything is perfect for your stay. La Residence goes above and beyond in making sure your stay is not only comfortable but very memorable as well.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : The Mandarin Cafe is an excellent option when trying to arrange tours when the office at the hotel is not available.

Close to town, excellent food and drink, and beautiful historic building directly on the Perfume River; definitely would recommend this place for anyone visiting Hue If you have the option, request a suite in the old colonial part of the building. We were in the colonial portion (what was billed as a "deluxe" room) but our room was small and modest and we definitely wished we were in a suite. Definitely THE place to stay in Hue. We were a little disappointed by our room (we had booked a "deluxe" room and yet we found ourselves walking by several beautiful suites to a relatively small room with limited space even for our suitecases), and also the breakfast was a little monotonous (we had just come from Sofitel Hanoi where the breakfasts were completely spectacular) but nevertheless, we truly enjoyed our stay and time by the pool and would definitely recommend this to anyone travelling through Hue, which is a great city and definitely worth a visit.

great old hotel with lots of interesting features great hotel, superb art deco setting with service to match gorgeous infinity swimming pool. Good restaurant with a south african chef, little extras with the meal as in every other posh restaurant and charming waiters. very helpful at the front desk. central location easy walk into town. I would highly recommend this place unfortunately the waether is out of the hotels control

The people at the hotel have to be their best point, but really it would be very difficult to find anything to fault. The room was beautifully appointed, the food was some of the very best I have ever eaten, from the crispy pancakes at lunchtime, to the stupendous dinner - and what can I say about the breakfasts - except that I went through 3 courses!! If I had to find a fault, it would be in the outlook of our room which was over the back - but hey, someone has to have that side and we spent so much time by the fantastic pool and on the dining terraces, that we weren't in the room much anyway! La Residence lives up to its former glory of being a governor's palace. It is beautifully decorated and the staff couldn't be more helpful. Dining here at any time of the day is an absolute pleasure and one would be hard pushed to know which meal was the best. The pool overlooks the river and is a haven of tranquility and the shop had some beautiful souvenirs at really good prices - particularly for a hotel shop. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : We told the tuc tuc driver to take us to the farthest away gate of the citadel, thinking we would then take a leisurely stroll back through the citadel - only to find moments after being dropped off that there is only one entrance - and it wasn't at the gate we were at!!!

Stunningly beautiful building and decor. Staff friendly and helpful - they really made one feel welcome and special. Food excellent. We would thoroughly recommmend this great hotel (the best we stayed in during our whole Asian trip).

Restaurant service very slow This Hotel was the residence of the French Colonial Provincial Governor. It is palatial and really beautiful. There are no restaurants or shops close by, so one has to have all ones meals in the Hotel. The food in the Hotel restaurant is very bland and limited in choice. The travel agency in the hotel is very good and arranged some nice tours for us and got us a car to go to Hoi An

Great position by the river
Quiet area of town
Lovely builiding Good coffee in the bar only... La Residence is the hotel for you if you like beautiful buildings the has mixed the old with the new. The hotel is on large grounds that make you forget how busy Hue is with traffic and people but it is a pleasant walk to the first bridge but a bit far in the heat to the second bridge and all the good eating places so recommend taxi, cyclo..
Our room was lovely with balcony and views of the river. The staff were great and happy to assist with any requests.

everything! location, service, perfection What a perfect hotel. The facilities are impecable and the service is outstanding. There is a beautiful old world feel to the hotel mixed with modern decadence. The breakfast was delicious, bedding lovely, room decor wonderful. The pool was refreshing and huge. Well worth the money paid and I would say it is one of the finest hotels in Vietnam.

the property is absolutely beautiful, art deco style, location, professional and helpful staff, comfortable room La Residence Hotel is an extremely beautiful property well located in Hue. The staff is attentive and helpful. The rooms are comfortable and spacious with modern well equipped bathrooms.
The free computer room was an added bonus we didn't expect.
All in all this was possibly the best hotel we stayed at in Vietnam.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Hire a guide and visit the tombs and pagodas to get the most out of the experience.

Lovely rooms, great ambience. Food was reasonably priced, staff friendly and helpful. Drinks a bit on the expensive side and tours arranged through the concierge a bit expensive. We enjoyed out stay. The rooms were very nice and conmfortable and the holte has a lovely feel about it. Also a good location, out a little bit but reasonable to walk into the heart of Hue.

Lovely riverside location, large, well appointed room with balcony. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Meals are excellent and the breakfast buffet even includes Aussie Vegemite. Cannot fault this magnificent property. We were delighted on arrival to see the Australian flag flying, along those of other guest's countries, at the entrance. Welcome drinks were served in the Art Deco style bar overlooking the garden. The room was large and well appointed. We dined the restaurant that night, and the service and meals were exceptional(and great value too), we highly recommend the Three Tenors Chocolate Dessert. There was everything you could wish for at breakfast, including Vegemite! La Residence is on our list of places to return to.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : We caught a boat around the corner from the hotel to the Perfume Pagoda. Excellent one hour cruise, try boat Number 21, with their gorgeous 3 year old son Tom, who has the biggest smile.

nice pool, decent service, pretty much as expected The hotel is right next to the perfume river. Our room had a great view of the city. The hotel staff was very accommodating and pleasant. I would definitely stay here again, though Hue is pretty small and probably not worth the trip back.
