Great hotel - Staff brilliant

In all the hotels we stayed in this region this has to be the best. Its well underrated for its service and helpfullness. Its so helpful at the initial visit I thought we were being scammed to buy tours and trips but they were just overhelpful and without overcharging either. The room and breakfast was great. But the staff were very attentive, chatty and extremely helpful with all our questions. Great hotel to represent all thats good in a great hotel. Would go back again without hestiation and spend longer there

Most comfortable bed of our trip!
The bed was huge and super comfortable, the staff were very friendly and helpful and the hotel is close to the shops and riverside.

We were thoroughly impressed with our stay at the Orchid Hotel. The staff were very welcoming and helpfully answered all our questions. After spending the previous night sleeping on a train berth, the room was a refreshing luxury. The Orchid staff went out of their way to add special touches to our stay, including placing towel swans and rose petals on our bed and embroidered bathrobes in our closet.

A comfortable home from home
Very helpful friendly staff. Comfortable room & bed (unlike most other beds in Vietnam which have rock hard mattresses as standard), delicious breakfasts, all good value

They take very good care of you at Orchid, lovely breakfast, comfy beds & helpful staff. There was a brand new shower in our bathroom but tiles, bath sealant etc. a bit shabby. However for the price you can't really complain!
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
It's an easy walk to the Citadel & enjoyable walking around more residential areas as well, just watching locals go about their lives. Take a sweater as it can be cold. We certainly didn't need air conditioning in late January.

One of the loveliest hotels in Southeast Asia

I cannot say more wonderful things about The Orchid! We have not received better service from any 5-star hotel. Each of the staff members were so kind, helpful, friendly, and honest with what to watch out for in Hue. Their service seriously went above and beyond what we have ever experienced with any hotel, even in the US. Anh and Tham were always ready with a smile and friendly conversation. I know the hard work and hours they put into their jobs and we truly appreciate their efforts. Cam even went out with me to a dress shop to help me find and bargain for silk dresses for my mother and sister as gifts!
On arrival, they provide you with welcome refreshments of juice, water, delicious crackers, and fruit. Our room was beautiful and we were surprised to find a bowl of rambutan, mangosteen, pear, and apples always ready for us every day at our bedside. Every evening we would come back to a cute towel animal on our bed and our last night we found a kind note and chocolates.
Aside from these thoughtful gestures, our bed was the most comfortable we've had in Vietnam. The room was pristinely clean. Breakfast is surprisingly varied and delicious. Location is also fantastic-- all the best restaurants of the city are a short walk or tuk tuk ride away.
This will be the hotel we recommend to everyone and the hotel we remember best of our 6 month tour of Southeast Asia!
Restaurant Tip:
Do try the restaurant Hang Me for traditional Vietnamese glutenous rice dumplings!

Great value, clean, central, attentive staff

we are a well travelled middle aged couple and normally stay in higher star rated hotels but wouldn't think about doing so in hue. we decided to chance tripadvisor's comments and award for best bargain hotel award 2012. the orchid is accessible by foot to everything we wanted to explore. we walked the whole way to and from the the citadel. there are only three rooms per floor. we were upgraded on arrival to the balcony room and were greeted with a large room, nice linen, clean bathroom, computer, tv and dvd, fridge, tea and coffe facilities, a spare bed and towels shaped like swans, cute touch! the staff were very engaging, spoke good english and the breakfast was more than adequate. smaller selection of most things you'd find in a large hotel and freshly made omelettes/eggs to your liking. i prefer making my own cup of tea and it was no trouble conveying this to the staff that i wanted hot water and my own tea bag. they rembered my husband loved fresh pineapple and watermelon and had his own freshly cut plate waiting for him the next morning! all staff were lovely and very friendly. they are very proud of their small hotel. there is a lift to each floor, but bear in mind there are about 10 stairs up to the main entrance and this is the case for most hotels in hue. i am sure the lift must go to the basement if you can't manage the stairs. would happily recommend and not bother looking for another hotel if we visit hue again.

Great Hotel with smiles all the time

we arrived at hue by sinh tourist at around 5pm and the hotel came to pick us up for free. we received very warm welcome from the hotel and the hotel is within walking distance to the river, restaurants and the pubs , such as dmz. hotel is not big but cozy. we booked the honeymoon room on the top floor. the whole room is very sweet and have a part view of the perfume river.
the bath has jacuzzi, but has not been used for a long time. the water in it smells. we only used the shower. breakfast is a little bit plain.
anyway the hotel is satisfactory and we really felt welcomed.
