We spent one enjoyable night there and recommend at least a two night stay due to the long drive from Hanoi. Our rooms were nice, could have been a bit bigger for the amount we paid. There was an interesting cave to explore and if you like to run bring your runners there are lots of great trails. One downside about the lodge was the cost of food and massages which seemed too expensive considering how much we already paid for the room.

Very popular hotel with foreigners and can book up quick. Offers many services, bike rentals, mopeds, kayak, transport, etc. Staff is very friendly, welcoming, and well trained. The lobby as well as rooms have a wonder aromatic fragrance blended locally and used exclusively here. Wonderful little lagoon by pool/restaurant. INSANE VIEW from private balcony. Rooms look much better in person than photos led to believe. Soldier's Cave is located directly across from lodge. Rice fields and White Thai villages are in walking distance. Easily most memorable stay we had in Vietnam and really didn't want to leave for Hanoi after 2 days at lodge.

We stayed for only one night and had a very pleasant albeit short stay . We were welcomed with cold towels and a refreshing drink before we spent a couple of hours wandering around the adjacent villages .
Our room was fine but in need of updating .Though it was perfectly ok ,in truth this was probably the worst and most expensive hotel room we stayed in during our 16 day trip.
Food was good but a little pricier than elsewhere although breakfast was disappointing with limited selection.
However , if we were to re visit then it is likely we would opt for a Homestay if we could find one with private rooms ! We enjoyed lunch at a local Homestay which was very good indeed albeit simple home cooking.
If you enjoy your creature comforts then Mai Chau Lodge is really the only place to stay but look at Homestay as a value for money alternative.
