Great food, peaceful eco-resort, and fun staff
Cheerful and friendly staff were wonderful!
9.3
Mango Bay is a delight--an excellent kitchen, kind and friendly staff, and peace and quiet. The outdoor bathrooms with private gardens were my favorite part. While I still think Long Beach is prettier, the beaches on either side of this resort are quiet and fine, with clear water and swimming fish. The assistant manager, in particular, was attentive and interesting. I did find the ice chest (in lieu of the refrigerator) a little strange and problematic in that I love ice cold water and fruit, the other eco-friendly aspects worked fine. I highly recommend this resort for people who like low rise, quiet beach resorts.

Beautiful resort. Fantastic service.

We stayed at Mango By for 4 nights in November and would have stayed longer if they had any available space. The location is quiet and off the beaten track but if you're looking for peace and to relax its the perfect spot.
The service, friendliness of the staff and atmosphere is really fantastic. You can tell the staff are well looked after and happy in their work as it really shows in the vibe of the place.
We stayed in the superior sea view room after getting a free upgrade and are definitely worth the extra money.

Great resort if you just want to chill
Quiet, secluded, quaint tropical style rooms, and great verandahs with lounges for relaxing. Nice beach.
8.3
Enjoyed our one night stay and could have like to have stayed longer if we’d had time. Yes, the road in is bumpy, but I feel the driver negotiated it as gently as possible. On arrival it is a bit of a hike to reception, but the staff carried our bags, so no drama for us. Check in was friendly and efficient. The resort is perhaps a little overpriced for the facilities offered (no phone in rooms, no fridge), although they do try to compensate (you can skype instead of phone, and there’s a cool box that can be filled with ice if required).
Our room was lovely with a sea view and large verandah with two lounges and a table and chairs. A fabulous spot to relax. No air con, but several fans in the room, as well as under the verandah, were enough to keep us cool. We’re Australian, so accustomed to bugs, and we frequent Bali, so used to ghecko lizards, but their presence in the room and outdoor bathroom might bother some people. Take mosquito spray, as they're mosquitos are active a dusk.
We found the seclusion relaxing but if you like the buzz and convenience of town, you might find it a bit out of the way. The beach at the south end of the resort was lovely with white sand and clear, warm water (a bit rocky closer to the restaurant). However, even at this quiet resort there were sun lounge hogs, who placed towels on the lounges at the beach, but were nowhere to be seen for several hours. Perhaps staff could keep an eye on this, and as with some other hotels, remove the towels if they are unattended for more than an hour. The food in the restaurant was tasty, and although pricy for Vietnam, was still reasonable. Breakfast was included and we loved sitting beachside to eat it. Would stay again

Undeniably unique ... know what you want though
Location, staff, service, location location location!

The resort was undeniably beautiful and unique. A series of individual bungalows that had character and beautiful wood throughout, friendly staff that could all speak English, and a very well thought out setting. As a solo traveller, I would like to offer you a full and honest account of my two nights at the resort.
First impression was that the roads leading up to the resort are not developed. The airport transfer was free, but it was extremely bumpy a ride, I was actually being thrown about in the car. If you're an adult no problem, maybe be wary if you have kids. The driver could have realised himself. 20 mins later you're in the resort, being greeted by friendly staff which is nice. I was unfortunately scoffed at slightly that I was a solo traveller and didn't have someone with me, when not everyone is staying there for a romantic getaway. So I didn't appreciate that. I stayed in a bunglow that was about a two minute walk along a path, through some greenery and slightly up the hill. In the day this is fine, but at night it was actually a little scary, as a solo male even I was thinking if I fell or was jumped here then there's nothing that could be done really. The path up to the bungalow had lots of loose paving stones. The bungalow was beautiful, unique and the service was brilliant, a turn down service when you left your room that seems magic, but is carefully planned as the staff wait for you to leave before they enter and sort out your room. Word of advice though, tell us you'll do this because I had to shine my torch on the guy squatting outside my hut and realised he was waiting for me to leave. There are no phones in the hut, maybe something to reconsider. I know it's supposed to be secluded, but you can be safe and secluded. Finally, the organised tours are great I went snorkelling for the first time. It was brilliant, but I would have liked a bit more attention to safety. The first place we stopped at was choppy in the water and you are literally...
Hotel Feature Tip:
... given a snorkel and told to go for it. I abandoned trying the first time but tried again the second calmer destination. Are the staff trained to help you if you are in distress, because I feel I was but made it back to the boat myself. It was an undeniably great experience, but if something untoward or unplanned had happened would there have been support? Great that it didn't. The restaurant and food are reasonably priced and yummy, there's a free internet service, wireless was intermittent and slow and cut off completely in the evening because of the environmentally saving aspect. The staff are helpful, the setting is perfect. To close I would say that reality is not that idyllic, great that you have tried to create it, but you also need to think about what you'd need if a situation occurred, illness, someone falling over, the need to telephone in the night, better lighting that just the few hanging lights on the way to the bunglow. I felt a bit secluded and quite scared actually at night. Happy to answer any questions. Would I go back, yes I would, I wouldn't let my child sign up on the snorkelling unless I knew they had supervision, and I would maybe stay closer to reception and less away from help if I needed it.

Lovely relaxing resort with excellent staff
Spacious bungalows, great food, lovely service, nice beaches.
8.3
Arrival at Mango Bay is not representative of the lovely eco style resort set in natural surrounds that you find. (Road improvement is nearly complete). The bungalow was spacious well equipped with outdoor bathroom and solar heated water, comfortable bed, tea and coffee making equipment, sun loungers on porch. Only downside can be mosquitos however they are endemic on Pho Quoc and the bed has the best designed net I have encounter on all my travels. The food is of high quality, service is excellent and beaches for sunbathing and swimming ideal. Snorkelling to be had off shore not prime coral gardens however interesting enough. Overall great place for relaxation. Some of the furniture is looking a little tired however small point in comparison to everything else.

Superb relaxing stay
Staff are friendly and very accommodating

We loved our room especially the outdoor bathroom. Showering and looking out into the jungle is a great experience. When you wake up at night and look up into the stars it is just beautiful .
Our room was a delux bungalow and it was spacious and very clean, the mosquito net was great as you could sleep without the worry of the insects. We enjoyed not having the hum of an ac - very bank to nature.
The food is outstanding and we will definitely be returning for another break as the island is only an hours flight from Saigon.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
We really enjoyed hiring a motorbike and travelling around the island.

Beach, great service, great food.

This is a lovely place to say. The bungalows are spacious and clean. The beach is beautiful and the staff keep it almost rubbish free. It feels very safe and the staff are really kind and helpful. I was quite happy to let my 12 year old son roam on his own to the beach bar or stay at the beach with a friend. The atmosphere was very relaxed; this is certainly the place to come for tranquility and calm but not if you want a fun nightlife. Because this is an ecohotel, one draw back is the number of mosquitos. They did spray while we were there which improved the situation but mosquitos particularly like me and, even though I put on repellent, I got bitten a lot. I would take a good repellent with you and be prepared to use it.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
If you book a trip to see wildlife, make sure you go really early in the morning or early evening as that is the only time you'll see monkeys and most birds.
