I've stayed here a number times; because of the location and accommodating manager. If you need to arrange a car and driver the manager is able to arrange that
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
You will probably get there early in the morning if you arrive by train, if the room is not ready leave your bags and go for a walk to cat cat

Great little hotel with views
Two rooms next to each other was great for our family

Pleasant hotel in Sapa. We had two rooms next to each other. One with 2 singles and a double which was great for our 3 children. Ha the manager arranged our 2 day trek and the cost was a lot cheaper than we hade been quoted. W really enjoyed our stay here...before & after our trek....& would stay there again.

Book a trek with Ha the Manager. He looked after us

cat cat hotel, while affordable, offers guests many great services and an awesome location in sapa near cat cat village. i requested a higher floor room, from which the view was amazing as you could see the mountain peaks and clouds up close in the morning. the rooms were simple but clean and although you won't find as many amenities here as in more traditional hotels, such as coffee maker or refrigerator, the service was very prompt, friendly, and accommodating. when we requested some hot water, they brought us a large thermos filled with hot water. the hotel offers tours, of which my friend and i took advantage. the breakfast served in the mornings is very decent and very affordable. very satisfied

Nice hotel with some great views from the top rooms. The staff are friendly and speak English well, and invited us one night to join them in drinking their homemade H'mong apple wine! Guaranteed to hurt your head! Breakfast was nice including a healthy option of fruit, museli and yoghurt, a nice change from eggs and bread in most of Vietnam! Also well located for the walk to Cat Cat village and only metres from the market.

We were greated quite warmly by the staff, who told about there trekking tour. We decided to book our own private tour, we found that there attitude changed dramatically after that.
The room had a great view, but you did have to climb alot of stairs which could be pretty slippery when raining.
The room was a good size, yet seemed a little dirty. Also there was no heating only a electric blanket, and i imagine it could get quite cold.
The bathroom was also dirty, with a very musty smell. You also had to step through the shower to get to the toilet.
The breakfast was below average.

We could have found cheaper hotels of a similar standard in Sapa. Our first impressions of the hotel were not fantastic, no air conditioning or fans in the rooms for example and it was hot during the day.
The hotel is in a good location, the manager speaks good English and was able to arrange a car and driver for us as we wanted to do some special tours off the standard tourist circuit. The hotel can also arrange a train tickets and minibus pick from the hotel back to Lao Cai train station.
While I did not rate the hotel very highly I did extend my stay there and I will stay there again mainly because the manager is able to deal with special requests and is very understanding.

Fantastic views but noisy with building works

originally booking 3 nights at the cat cat hotel we ended up staying a week. on our first night they had apparently overbooked so we were moved across the road to their sister hotel cat cat view. (which had by far the best views, and a private balcony)
the following day we were shown our room, a deluxe, with standard double bed, desk with computer, fridge, tv, and wardrobe, fireplace, window with no view, bathroom had hot water and a 'cabin' style shower. the large balcony with a good view of the mountains was shared with one other room, and there were tables and chairs on it.
breakfast was okay, choice of boiled, scrambled eggs or omelette, pancakes or a 'healthy breakfast' of muesli, yoghurt and fruit. after 6 nights we were also given the option of a full english which was very tasty.
the owner speaks very good english and is very helpful with booking bus tickets, tours, and directions. he also booked us an automatic bike for $4 a day. however when he is not on reception (50%) of the time, you have to try and communicate with the other staff members who do not speak english. often they will just say '10 minute' and we had to wait for the owner to come back.
the only other issue we had was with the bathroom...the drains smelled pretty bad, most of the time. we didn't notice it on the first day but it seemed to gradually get worse...we had to keep the door shut to the room it got that bad. maybe the drains aren't cleaned often enough.
another plus, the wifi is a strong connection, and has fast download speeds.
all in all we would stay here again, if we had a different bathroom!
about 45 min walk to the cat cat waterfall. good location for restaurants
Restaurant Tip:
Head left out of the hotel to the corner, there is a place called Sapa Rooms. Tasty local food, nice atmosphere and music, and boardgames on the tables.
