Our two elephants, Damara and Nzewe are both sub-adult males aged around 12 and 14 years respectively as at Sept 2008. They arrived at Plumari in Sept 2006. They were born and living as wild elephant on a private game reserve in Limpopo Province which at the time was about 50% overpopulated with elephants. Threatened with being culled, Damara and Nzewe were acquired by Elephants for Africa Forever ("EFAF") and put into their licensed training programme. Upon satisfactory completion, they were relocated to Askari Lodge.

Lovely getaway out of the city

Beautiful rooms, excellent food, lovely watching the elephants while having lunch
We had a wonderful stay. A beautiful lodge! Enjoyed the peace and quiet. Was surprised at the amount of animals we saw. The food was excellent although not a wide selection. The staff was very professional and helpful. Beautiful clean rooms.

Stunning accommodation with beautiful surroundings

Being close to Nature and the animals roamed close to us.
Excellent accomodation, the one downside was that the accommodation was a bit of a distance from the parking. The hotel should invest in a golf cart to transport guests to their rooms. There was insufficient parking for guests.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip: Excellent experience for the overseas traveler, being so close to Johannesburg.

A feast of wiild life

friendly staff, comfortable and well appointed chalets
Having spent two nights at Askari, we came away relaxed and refreshed. A bonus for us was the exceptional amount of game we saw on the two drives we took. However, we feel that the cost of the drives should be included in the package. Game rangers are outstanding from a knowledge point of view and at interacting with holiday makers. All in all most enjoyable and we would do it again!
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip: Do a game drive!
