Agreed with other review, the hotel needs upgrade
I kinda expected some disappointment for the money I paid, but not being shocked. Few things need to listed. 1. Lifts, when I pressed a button there were about ten others lit up! And the lift did stop at those floors I didn't press. 2. The first room I was assigned the air con did not work and made terrible noise, I called the front desk then a maintenance guy came up advised they will arrange another room for me. Then I waited about 20 - 30 mins for the same guy to give me new room key! New room the air con works but still pretty noisy. I was in a hurry to go out so I accepted it cause I needed a room for my bags and I didn't have the luxury to wait another half hour. Luckily I didn't sleep in the room that night wasn't impacted by the noisy air con. 3. The toilet/bathroom was smelly. Good thing about the hotel is location and the room is spacious.

Great location and value for money
Overall, we had a pretty good stay at the hotel and enjoyed the closeness to the city with a five minute walk down to Central Station. We were a bit disappointed with how the room was kept and the general condition of furniture and appliances. After moving the phone/alarm clock, we found that the power cord had snapped (!) and the TV remote did not work at all. A member of staff took the remote away for repairs, but never returned with a replacement. Having said that, we did not have any other major issues with the room, and the staff were generally quite friendly and helpful. We would recommend staying at the hotel, especially for singles or couples travelling on a budget, but wanting value for money.

Great location
Have stayed here many times and find the location fantastic as only 5 minute walk to Central station. Easy walk to town and plenty of facilities in the area. Thoroughly recommend Astor as value for money and location.

Don't book here
Terrible hotel. Very unclean and old (even worse than country side motel), not so friendly staff, cheap price=bad hotel Only one good thing is close to the city.
