The hotel itself and it's location are very good. One of the reasons for me and my girlfriend to book it for our two days stay in HCMC. The experience with the reception staff was awful. My vietnamese girlfriend was treated with no respect and was asked if she only wants to stay few minutes or all night. As mentioned before I booked the room for two days for me and my girlfriend. It's all but not professional and respectful to think all foreigners who come with a vietnamese lady, took her from a bar. Im together with my girlfriend since 1.5 years. The staff must consider that there can be normal couples, too. The reception staff should be trained how to treat guests in a proper way. Well after all....the hotel is good but be aware of the staff. I hope in the future the staff will be more professional. Our next stay in HCMC will be in another hotel.

Employee scam
This was the only time that anyone has shown us any hospitality and apologized to us followed by an offer to charge us 30 instead 40, they asked for our consent and then reimbursed us 10 USD. This is not an issue of money but rather morals and principals. I also run a business, so I am very sensitive with workers running scams to put meet in their own pockets by misusing the name of their company. These acts are illegal and intolerable. I don't wish these shameful scammers to get away with any profits little or big, nor do I wish any travelers to experience the humiliation we went through. Most people would probably think it is petty and would not make a big deal from it but it is unethical, I strongly hope that Au Lac would seriously look into this situation and serve justice to these petty crooks. I really hope that these guys will face a fair repercussion and learn from it.

Broken AC , Dirty Water
The first night they gave me a room on the 2nd floor with broken AC, very hot, was told no more rooms. Next morning went to take shower and no water at all. Went to front desk to tell them I'm check out early and give a refund. They said all the water was out and they would upgrade me to better room with cold AC, said water would be on in a few hours, I accepted. 2 hours later water was on but it had all kinds of black particles in it, totally disgusting and unusable . I called agoda and sent pictures. Agoda returned me 1 nights stay and I left.

Good size rooms. Great location
Have stayed here many times and is always good. Road out front has got a little busier since it became a two way street after the nearby pedestrian mall in parallel major road was completed. Still room is quiet and traffic noise not a problem. So many bars springing up in this area and newer western style coffee shops but still plenty of local character around.
