Never Again

It was close to the airport
This hotel leaves much to be desired. Firstly we arrived at 2.30am to a sign on the door saying "gone to the Airport", the room and hotel smelt like something was rotten, when I enquired the assistant told me it was from the cemetary across the road! There was no way to cool the room other than with leaving windows open - in a less than desirable area with the stench coming in. The bathroom was in disrepair, I wore jandals when using it as it didn't appear hygenic. Beds were worn and saggy but did have clean linen. I don't think we got value for money and won't ever return.

Worst Place Ever !!!
Terrible! Terrible! And terrible! Those were my comments during our two-night and three-day stay. I have no idea how this place got it name. In fact this place is far from the Auckland city center, not close to the airport, nothing to do with kiwi (either fruit or that cute bird) and not a hotel at all. An Indian family runs this places and the next-door motel. Almost everything in the place is likely from the previous owner, which I inferred from the "VR" logo on the main glass doors. Our room was dirty. I saw two empty water bottles on the floor. The desk and chairs are like from old 2nd-hand store. 7 hangers are provided, and amazingly you cannot find any two of them of the same type. The wooden tea box is nice, but it has a "VR" logo. Bathroom accessories are of minimum, no place to put towels. The restaurant is shared by the next-door motel. Breakfast only includes bread, milk, Indian yogurt, coffee, butter, jam, and hot water. Egg, bacon, ham, sausage charge 8 dollars. The location is near a cemetery, and that is all. Transportation relies only on its mini shuttle van, which charges you 2 dollars for each to the airport. Service to other places is not provided. And its is shared by that motel too. The nearest shopping place for grocery is 20 min walking distance away. There is a liqueur store, a small supermarket that sold me fake postage stamps, and an Indian restaurant, all run by Indians. All in All, Under no Circumstances Don't Choose This Place!

Things wrong at this hotel.

Nice bathroom. Pleasant restaurant waiter. Easy accessible Parking.
Not good. Unhelpful Receptionist. No menu available at Reception and being told to wait until 5pm when restaurant opens to then go and ask for one. Was also told that "100 metres down the road are several eating places with menus"???? Booked 3 rooms for 8 guests but had to request extra towels and milk for each room - on arrival, only 2 towels/facecloths and 2 satchets of milk in each room! Only 1 pillow each person - expected more. Horrified that any accommodation within cooee of an International Airport only opens for breakfast from 7 am to 9 am, despite the room folder stating it was open until 9 30 am. Sole waiter in restaurant was pleasant, but had too much work to do and we were seated for dinner without enough cutlery and serviettes for our party of 8 and had to request these after our meal was served. Restaurant seriously understaffed for a Saturday night. Meals not up to standard - salad mainly consisted of raw sliced cabbage with no dressing. No trolleys on view/available for luggage and staff only offered help if rooms upstairs. Chipped uneven concrete surfaces outside units. A toaster in the rooms would have been appreciated, particularly as the restaurant was closed when I arrived for breakfast at 2 minutes past 9am. I'm tired of complaining now, so will submit.

Bring earplugs!

Reasonably good service, free Wifi, clean and affordable.
Didn't get much sleep as the beds are back to back separated by thin plaster walls so not much privacy. Meal was average quality. Staff friendly and reasonable service. Wifi ok and free. Miscommunication with shuttle transfer. Definitely not more than 3 stars.

Close to airport, cheap and cheerful
Good, unusual bed very very soft, rubber smelling pillows, can hear other guests clearly in next room.
