Good for one night stay
It was a good one night stay, but I felt I could have gotten more for my money. Any questions I had I felt reluctant to go ask because I felt like I was annoying the staff. It advertised and made it sound like I would be sharing a bathroom with one other person, but upon my arrival, I found out it was with 4 other people. The bathroom itself made me hesitate to take a shower, but the room itself was clean.

Basic Accommodate in Newtown
Very basic accommodation in a great location. I thought $100 plus parking (down a sidestreet nearby and not secure) was overpriced, even for Sydney prices. Our room was clean at least, very basic amenities, and share toilet/shower (1 toilet and 1 shower) down the hall. If you just need a bed for the night in Newtown, this is fine - don't expect anything too flash.

Great place.
I love Newtown and I love staying at the Australian Sunrise Hotel. It's great value and in the centre of Newtowns shops and entertainment. We will be back in July!

Overnight Stay
The location was handy however the accommodation itself was more of a backpackers stay the furnishings were very basic a double bed (looked like a homemade job as it was two single wooden bed frames linked together with a piece of steel) The venetian blinds on the window were actually all broken with slats missing and snapped in half and the bottom 6 inches of the window was half exposed. Very basic bistro chair and 3 cube unit with green laminate on it with brown ring cup stains on top of it. Very noisey and the room door banged every time someone else opened or closed the door to their room. Not good for light sleepers also was supposed to be garden view, this was some dead plant hanging down from the roof of the outside of the building dropping over a wire netting into a concrete side/back alley type area.

Great Shops
This is a very basic 1 star hotel close to the airport on a very charming stretch of King Street. The local shop owners are a friendly eclectic bunch with interesting wares, unique restaurants, not far from the Newtown train station. We got a small room with balcony, double bed with our own bathroom, tv, fridge, and overhead fan. Certainly adequate for a short stay but still just over $100 per night. Sydney is an expensive city.
