Luxury hotel that delivers in every aspect
Big and clean room with nice view, modern and clean pool, quiet hotel area, nice staff, high tec equipment, every effort was made for our comfortability, great stuff like spa creams in the bathroom, iron and board in the room, gowns and slippers i.e. we didn't miss a thing! And this for the price of 7 600 bath for two nights!
We were welcomed with flowers and drinks by a really nice staff and shown to the room which was surprisingly big and super clean. We loved the high tec equipment and furnishing. We had a nice balcony with sea view and view over the pool area. Free wi-fi. The room was really the best part of our stay!
The pool area was really beautiful - very modern, clean, quiet and relaxing. Guests get big and soft beach/pool side towels. Small gym but had enough equipment for a basic workout. Never tried the spa which seemed quite expensive but hotel guests get 40 % discount.
Close to town. Not too far from the beach. Between Patong, Karon and Kata, Kata beach is the nicest according to us.
Tuktuk is 200 baht to go to the south side of town but we negotiated it down to 100 and sometimes 150.
Try the blue light in the room when the sun has set - it's super nice!

Nice Stay, Beautiful Hotel
Beautiful grounds, good food, nice rooms, very modern, gracious staff
We pulled up to Avista after a long flight from LAX to Manila to Bangkok to Phuket then a taxi ride from HKT to Avista at about 9:30pm with a tourist trap stop in the middle, and it felt like paradise. We were away from the hustle and bustle of Phuket/Patong and were greeted with fresh smelling tuberose bracelets and guava (?) juice from the nice staff. The hotel sits on a hill above Karon beach which can make for a steep walk, but not too bad. Used the spa facilities and they seemed to just be working out the kinks of how to do things but very relaxing. Bathroom smelled of sewage when using the bathtub. Overall an excellent hotel and I would stay there again and recommend to friends.
After Beach Bar above Kata beach had great spicy green papaya salad.

Review on Avista Resort & Spa in Phuket, Thailand
Very new, nice & clean hotel.
First impression was that Avista was a very new hotel. Everything from facilities to furnishings were almost brand new, as hotel was barely 1-2 months old when we stayed there.
However, staff seemed well-tained, friendly & helpful.
The complimentary American breakfast was decent, & the pool was great & with a nice pool bar where we could chill out with a drink as well. Only drawback was that there was no children's pool.
Room was spacious (we got the Grand Deluxe), with a King & Queen bed, which is great for a family of 4.
5 minutes walk to the Kata Beach, with many shops & eateries as well. Only drawback was that the slope back up the hotel entrance was really a challenge.
Overall, a very good experience, & would probably be abck there to relax with my family again very soon.

Nice pools (2); decent breakfast; friendly staff;
hotel has exercise room
I thought this would be a really nice hotel since it opened in November 2009, but I was not impressed. The hallways looked a little worn due poor painting. The location was up a steep hill and we always hired a taxi to go back from the beach/town. Our stay was pleasant and the staff was nice. I would not go back unless the price was less. We stayed in a Avista Club view room and I would not pay for a view as it has a limited view of the beach. We could not find much room for 2 large suitcases. I love Kata and this hotel was decent, perhaps 85 out of 100 points. This was my 2nd trip to Kata and 5th time to Phuket.

a nice one!
the hotel is modern, we just like the room very much, the design, setting and bathroom coz you can have the spa inside the bathroom while watching the tv.
there is a welcome fruit dish, the room is spacious, cyber. the bed is very large.
when i was there, it was just open for a month and the staff told us we could borrow movie. so we would like to borrow one at night but then, it was not yet get ready! then we further notify that the games room, lbrary were all not yet ready. though we could borrow a movie finally, but we wasted more than half an hour for waiting.
it better inform the guest once we check in.
there was free wifi but we could not find out the network..i guess it was not ready yet maybe.. but there were three computers at the lobby for using internet free of charge.
overall, the design of the hotel is great and the service is yet to improve but i think it's nice when we are paying 40% discount of the actual room rate.
Hotel Feature Tip:
the buffet breakfast is nice and if you book the hotel with the special rate it wont include the breakfast so do try it one day.

great rooms and the best swimmingpool
Great hotel. The resort is located between Kata and Karon beach very close to restaurants, shopping areas, nightlife. The resort is beautiful and chic with big and modern rooms. The bed was very large and confortable, free internet is available in the room.
We were greeted with flowers bracelet,a cold cloth and a welcome drink. On arrival we were offered complimentary vouchers for dinner which was a nice surprise. It was only for a set menu, but still plenty of variety. Food lived up to expectations and presentation was perfect.
Staff were amazing, very friendly and helpful. The service was perfect and everything was clean and a 5 star standard. Great place for couples, friends or families

Room is spacious & new. But need improvement
Room is spacious & the decoration is stylish.
The room is spacious & the decoration is stylish. There is large LCD TV & all the electronics applicances is so new.
But the service is not consistence. Some of the staff are very friendly, especially the staff at the car park but some are so rude( staff in the restaurant).
The water supply from the shower is not stable (sometimes hot, sometimes cold)
The bed is too hard also.
We book the room under special promotion so I think it's worth to try this hotel!
Kata beach is really great! I think rent a car for the trip is good. It's easy to go everywhere if u have GPS.

Nice new hotel
Convenience location, just 5 mins walk to Kata beach, but have to climb a steep hill to get to the hotel
As a new hotel, all the staffs are very helpful and friendly, and especially, they know what they are doing; not common in newly opened hotel.
The room is spacious, and the hotel we have have a great view of the Kata beach and the view of the Big Buddha.

Good hotel - but whit some minor faults
Brand new. Modern. Clean. Very helpfull staff.
I stayed at Avista with my 16 years old son four nights, 18th-22nd Nov 2009.
Check-in procedure was great and swift. First we got a room on the second floor, with no internet access. We stayed there one night and asked if we could switch rooms, that was not a problem. We had a room on the fourth floor the last three nights.
Our room had no view over the sea/beach, but a back garden, not a nice view at all.
The grand deluxe rooms are very spacious, we had two large (queen size) twin beds, a little sofa, a table and a chair. The in-room fridge is the largest I have ever seen in a hotel room. Free water stocked daily. As the hotel is just opened, the rooms are modern, clean and comfortable. The air-con made a little noise, but not so much that we had trouble sleeping. Large shower, a tub and free shampoo/soap/etc.
Breakfast buffet OK, but nothing spectacular. We had dinner one night in the hotel restaurant - as the only guests there! Food was good, but by far the best food we had in Thailand during our trip - expensive too.
The hotel is located approximately 6 min walk from Kata Beach, a BEAUTIFUL beach! About 5 min to walk to Kata town with nightlife, restaurants etc. We asked the hotel to book a trip for us (ATV-riding in the jungle), very helpful staff!
We chose this hotel due to a very good price given on Agoda.com, I would probably not stay here again if I had to pay full price. I think there are better options in the Kata area.
This is not a bad hotel, I just prefer another type of hotel I think.
Tip: At the end of the hill from the hotel to Kata Town, at your right side, you'll find a little (primitive) restaurant driven by to very nice and friendly women. I highly recommend to eat there - you'll get a good meal and a marvelous experience.
Take the ATV-tour in the jungle - the hotel can help you book. Very funny for older children.
