Japanese style accommodation

Location, affordable, Japanese style but not Ryokan
8.3
It was nice to experience staying here. Overall look of the room is similar to Ryokan except that we have bad not a futon. The room was fully equipped with what you need. There was an area to sit and relax, bedroom, and separate zone for toilet and bath area. It was very cold in the city and the traditional room (with tatami) like this was a bit too cold for me. The heater didn't work well in walking zone to toilet and bath area, so it is cold to walk out of bedroom. The bed is comfy and has electric blanket which is the best thing here. Breatfast is home made omelette which is surprisingly good :) Not a bad choice to stay here.

I expect a little bit more. Japanese style room, but not comfy. Floor is jerky, every steps to the toilet will make lot of noise. BF is so so, homemade.

This is a very convenience place to stay as it near Tobu Nikko train station and bus terminal, convenience store just a few minutes walk. A super market is also near by.

close to station, room old, great homemake bfast.

The home-made breakfast made my day
5.3
The building and room was quite old for the price paid for in my opinion. The curfew of 11pm was okay to me since it was quiet and freezing in this small town on winter night and no reason to be out after 11pm. The male staff (owner) looked quite fierce and should smile a little. The homemake breakfast by the old lady was really great even though nothing expensive. The distance to the temples was reasonable by foot (30-40 min).

Perfect Introduction to Japan

Hostest, Breakfast, Location

This was the first hotel I stayed at during my trip to Japan. I stayed in the annex portion (down the street a bit). One bit of warning, the hotel locks up from 11pm - 7am. no-one gets in or out. I almost missed last check-in (arrived at 10:42pm) and am not sure what would have happened if I arrived after 11pm. The hotel is about half way between the train station and most of the sites of Nikko, and right near the bus station. There is a convenience store across the street. The rooms are small, and the bathroom was tiny, but that seems pretty common here. The bed was quite hard, but was comfortable enough. In my room, there was an alarm clock and power outlets built into the headboard. 3G/LTE reception was 0 in the hotel. Outside I could get 3 bars on my emobile modem. The hostest was very friendly, but didn't speak much english, but she was patient with my broken japanese and we figured it all out. She makes a wonderful breakfast, don't pass it up. If I ever manage to return to Nikko, this will be my first choice of hotel. Loved it.
Nightlife Tip: Not the best place for a nightlife. (if Nikko has one, that is). Hotel is locked up tight from 11pm until 7am.

Nice Little Hotel

Good location
7.7
Easy to find hotel near the train station. I stayed in the annex building, which had a nice breakfast area with tea, coffee, little snacks, books, etc. The hotel a nice launching pad to see the World Heritage sights. Not a huge deal, but no elevator to the 2nd floor of the annex. I also recommend the restaurant Hippari Tako a little ways away. Lovely staff and good food.
