Huge room compared with others

The room is huge! Breakfast is okay

Location is not very great, took us 1600 yen to get there from the station, and have to take the shuttle bus. Room is huge, very huge compared to other Japanese hotels. Breakfast is avearage.

nice cheap place, a little difficult to find

cheap, breakfast baked goods, bath

Pretty good. If you're doing the free pass or not just take the H bus from Hakone Yumoto to Kowakien or Yunessun (the big water park resort just up the hill). Ask or look for b&b signs. Tasty breakfast!

The location very far away from bus station. I came back to hotel around 8:30pm,walk from Yunessun spa resort,i couldn't find the signboard to B&B Pension, almost lost the direction, very dark and silent.

Plain, boring, awesome breakfast.

Cheap, amazing breakfast, quiet.
5.3
This hotel is not great and I wouldn't probably recommend it. It's cheap and quietly located but it's distance from any restaurants, lack of wifi and just overall feel left me disliking my stay. The one huge benefit is that they serve a breakfast with freshly made pastries which I admit was quite good.

Very hard to find and in remote location far from restaurants but they have vending machines and pick something up first. Free shuttle bus down to the link up with free pass buses. Great free breakfast of fresh pastries and coffee. Rooms basic but clean. Very strict check in times. Overall ok but wouldn't recommend highly.

Excellent value; great for budget-conscious

In-hostel onsen (bath); value for money; spacious rooms
8.3
I had a wonderful stay at the B&B Pension Hakone. For a budget hostel, this place had everything a budget traveler could need/want (other than private bathrooms): in-hostel onsen (bath); spacious, clean rooms; gorgeous surroundings. And it had lots of nice touches, such as foot-massage machines, in-room fridges, a kitchen area for getting hot water for tea, making toast, etc. Given how many tourists come to Hakone and how upscale (and costly) most hotels/ryokan/resorts are here, I was pleasantly surprised by this place and would definitely return/recommend to fellow (budge) travelers. Knowing these things in advance meant that I had reasonable expectations: • shared toilet (just a few doors down the hall--and actually I didn't encounter a single person during my one-night stay) • shared bath (Japanese onsen-style--which is the reason most people come to Hakone) • no wifi (though my portable wifi router worked, albeit slowly) • limited restaurant offerings within walking distance (we went to the Italian restaurant--totally adequate for our one-night stay; if we stayed longer, we would have eaten at Hakone Yumoto or one of the areas with more offerings) • "breakfast" is a croissant/pastry spread and coffee. That's not enough for me--so I stocked up on yogurt and bananas, etc., at the nearby (10-minute walk) convenient store in advance. To note BEFORE coming: • the "nearest train station" listing on this page (Nakagora) is MISLEADING. The simplest way to get to B&B Pension is to take a bus from Hakone Yumoto to the "Yumesson" (a hotel/resort) stop, then a shuttle bus from there. Nakagora may be the most geographically proximate, but we couldn't find our way from the station and ended up needing a taxi. As for language barriers, I speak Japanese and didn't have a problem, and the staff were perfectly cordial. Overall, a positive experience and I'd definitely return.
