A touch of class

trips on offer, friendly and helpful staff, location
Wow! In the old town of Bagan and near the many temples! It's like being on a movie scene of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. Only it wasn't that. I had a nice stroll along the temples, off the beaten track and took a horse and carriage ride around some more important ancient sites further out and the local guide quoted a nice price and nothing more. I had a great time time taking a private tour of Mount Popa with a lovely, friendly and cheerful guide, who enthusiastically told me about the local ways of living in Bagan as well as Myanmar, including the education system, etc. The highlight was the baloon ride, where you could see the city of Bagan from the sky, again with a lively pilot explaining what we could see below, starting with coffee and ended with champagne and croissants. What more could you want? A trip to Bagan is not complete without a balloon ride

Extremely overpriced and disappointing

Location, hotel grounds, pool
The very definition of an overpriced tourist trap. The "deluxe standard" room I was charged $160 for looked like it belonged in the colonial times, but not in a charming way: dilapidated amenities, strange lay-out (bathroom does not connect to the bedroom), old furniture, two single beds with old mattresses. Had to insist on being moved to one of the bungalows, which eventually happened after 2 hours of arguing and a call to the general manager. The bungalow option was slightly better, but still not worth the money. The restaurant is the most expensive place in Bagan we've seen. Can't comment on the quality of the food as we refused to eat there, but the breakfast buffet was mediocre at best. My advice: stay away from this place. There are multiple cheaper and more comfortable options around. This was my second visit to Bagan. I had stayed at a cheaper hotel in New Bagan the previous visit and wanted to try something new (and closer to the temples) this time around. But easy access to the temples was completely overshadowed by all the other aggravating aspects of this place.

Wonderful facilities but basic bedroom

Location, restaurant, spa
Very good stay despite the room was slightly under the standard for this price. It was very clean though! Other than that, our stay was fantastic : the staff is really looking after you, the location is ideal, the facilities (pool, spa, terrasse, restaurant) really great. I would clearly recommend this hotel.

Magnificent view and very nice garden layout

Location on the river, huge garden with temples in the grounds, wonderful deck and pool by the river
The hotel is very well located, spacious and the common areas are very nicely decorated. The huge teak deck overlooking the river is beautiful especially at night for dining. My room was large and clean but a bit old and it showed. The room decor very simple.

Hotel Review

Location, Pool Area, Lake View
A comfortable stay but plenty to be disappointed by: 1. The 'standard' room is so bog standard it's a real shame. Clean but largely uninspiring, in fact quite depressing given a real lack of natural light. 2. Food & beverage prices are a joke. US$5 for a coke when you can buy one down the road for 10% of the price leaves a bitter taste in the mouth (no pun intended). 3. Staff are pleasant and friendly but feel they're 'in on the joke' for the rip off this place is.

Best trip ever

Location, staff, services
It's such a wonderful and relaxing time. Location is perfect. Staffs are very helpful and friendly. Atmosphere is amazing that you still feel Bagan inside the hotel compound. All and all, our family had such a wonderful and memorable time sitting on the front porch of garden view bungalow and walking along Ayeyarwadi river bank while making new memories together.
