Great place to stay

Staff, location, breakfast

Shared a twin room with a friend/colleague, found the room a bit small but didn't spend much time in it: Bagan is too interesting to waste time watching TV. Ambience was tops, peaceful and friendly, the location is great for renting an electric bike and setting out to see the sites. This is a pleasant and very good value hotel.

Standard Room was appalling

Pool area, restaurant area with view on Pagoda
5.7
Compared to the overall condition of the hotel the standard room was appalling. Towels dirty, after reclamation we got dirty ones again. The bathroom was really disgusting and needed a renovation. This was not at all 2 star standard. We paid for an upgrade to a deluxe room which was really nice, clean and modern bathroom. So they know how to do it and I think it is really incredible to offer the standard rooms in such conditions and an absolutely overpaid room rate.

Good location, value for money

The poolside, location and clean room

Me and my friend stayed for two night at Bagan Umbra Hotel. The room was basic and clean. The only issue we had was with the water's low pressure and the drainage was also rather poor (it seems to be a common problem that we came across even in Yangon). In general, it was comfortable for us as we were out for most of the day. The swimming pool is freezing cold although the weather was warm, it was quite an experience for us but we did enjoy jumping into the pool on a hot day. There's another swimming pool (which is older) located in front of our room (Room 404) which was equally cold but it was an older pool that needs some upgrades. The location was good for both of us as it was between Old Bagan/New Bagan and Nyang U. We rented 2 eBikes for 12000kyats (if you rent only one it's 7000kyats and 2000kyats per hour) from a shop about 3-4 shops away from the hotel. I think the shop/bike rental place is called Phi Sone. For food, we went to Harmony Restaurant located next to the hotel and we found it reasonably priced.

Composery Christmas Eve dinner buffet

The hotel arranged a taxi to pick us up from the night bus station at 3a.m. It cost 10 US dollars. It let us have early check in.

It is composery to have X’mas eve dinner buffet when booking the room. The breakfast box is quite simple with two pieces of bread with jam and two boiled eggs since we took the early boat to Mandalay at 5a.m.

breakfast, swimming pool and helpful staff

Very helpful staff (let us check in at 4am in the morning and have breakfast without any additional charge). The location is good with an awesome local barbecue just at the exit of the hotel.

The standard rooms are basic (if not poor) but the bed is great. The 2 swimming pools are very appreciated after a long day visiting the temples (however water is cold in December). Staff is great, helped us organize our days. The breakfast buffet is good. I don't recommend the massage in the hotel which is quite expensive and not really good. I strongly recommend to go eat dinner just at the exit of the hotel at the harmony barbecue restaurant. The prices are honest (far more affordable than the dinner option at the hotel) and the food is great.

Great locaton, pool and facilities family friendly

Superb location close to Pagodas and some great eating establishments Also - far enough away from town without being isolated. Girls loved the pool - huge. They do need to not rely solely on filter - lots of Jesus bugs and other insects in water. We booked standard rooms - totally underwhelming bordering on concrete cells - we spent as much time as we could avoiding the room. The newer blocks looked a lot more comfortable and cheerier. Staff were exceptionally helpful. Breakfast had a good selection. Hotel used by many many tour groups - we were one of the few non group attendants. Watching the multitude of buses depart in the morning laden with tour groups was interesting

Underrated gem on lake inle

We.ll appointed rooms, friendly staff, good food
8.3
Great stay. The very friendly staff try very hard to cater for every need and anticipate your needs also. For example on checkout morning we came out of room to find a porter waiting because he knew we had a taxi booking for a certain time and thought we would have breakfast first. Very helpful counter staff with adequate to good English. Good good from the French chef owner with excellent breakfast selection from buffet. Right on the lake despite the map, a lovely sunset from the deck with a cocktail bar right there. Overall a great stay and recommend it unreservedly. Things to note - it's on a swamp so take mosquito coils to burn if you wan yo sit out. Breakfast timings are very flexible to allow for day tours - get an omelette cooked to taste! Restaurant is only good option - you can't walk down th street for something else - but Is excellent. Staff are fabulous and can whistle up a boat, book a taxi or your by road or boat. My only criticisms were internet connectivity ( provider fault and not resorts fault) and lack of Warner pressure in our otherwise fabulous room. Stay there if you get a chance. Worthwhile!

Great hotel in Bagan

Breakfast, location,food

The location is great, in Nyaung U, but close to old Bagan can bike to most major temples in 20 mins. The food is great with reasonable price, bike rental just outside of the hotel, also a local BBQ restaurant nearby, many people drive there for dinner. Also a ballon company has office in the hotel. It really has everything you need in Bagan.
