Feeling in a movie from another time

Garden, dining room and relaxing
There is no perfect, all in one solution in labuan bajo: either you are far from the town centre or you are in town and the feeling is suffocating. Beaches are apparently not considered anything else than a dump and if you are lucky to find a clean one, than the sea is littered with plastic and bottles. That s something we did not know before coming... Best way is to find yourself a calm relaxing place for lazy evenings and breath taking sunsets and be on a boat during the day, exploring the reef and the small islands during the day. This said, we loved this ecolodge for its calm and relaxing atmosphere, rooms where you can rest well, simple but comfortable. The main property is an impressive and well maintained colonial house, and you would expect to see the characters of a Salgari novel pop up at any time. The beach does exist but fishermen do not appreciate you there and swimming is not recommended because there is a nearby river. Staff have been friendly and helpful and always smiling.

Unexpected Charming Hotel

Garden setting, nice and clean room, friendly staff
Only stayed here for a night before diving LOB. It was good. The hotel provides free pickup from the town, it is just about 10 minutes or so from the town.

Large rooms and nice setting

Large rooms, nice gardens, out of the town itself
we stayed here as a base for spending some time in flores as the accommodation in labuan bajo itself didn't look too great. we were picked up from the airport which saved a lot of hassle and driven to the hotel. the hotel itself is set a few kim's from the town itself which is too far to walk, bajo komodo do have a driver who can take you into town in the evenings or during the day if you need, be sure to give them plenty of notice and allow an extra ten mins or so as they were not the most prompt! the breakfasts were included and were good each morning, served in a second floor restaurant looking over the grounds and out to sea. the hotel is right on the beach although the beach is not good for swimming or sunbathing as it is near to a fishing village. there is a pool which was a welcome break from the heat although the sunbirds and pool area are a bit peculiar...still usable though. the hotel staff are very friendly and can give good advice, although the hotel trip to rinca was a lot more expensive than you can get in the town. the bed had a good mosquito net and they also provided insect repellant lotion. it is a good base but there are better options, we had to stay a few extra days on flores, as do many people due to a lack of flights, and moved to the jayakarta suites pretty much next door, a similar price and much more modern.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip: Tours from the town are cheaper than the hotel one.

Peaceful, quiet and basic hotel, at the beach

Quiet, peaceful, right next to beach
Rooms are clean but very basic. Nice restaurant in large veranda overlooking the garden and tree-filtered view on the beach and sunset. Nice swimmingpool. Staff is helpful and speaks reasonable english.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip: Besides Komoda (of course). Walk around LB. Surprisingly nice little town.

Very, very nice stay

Clean, quiet, nice people, two steps from the sea
It takes a taxi to go to Labuan Bajo town; the hotel provides it and the service is good, but you risk spending more for the taxi than for your dinner. The guys forgot to pick us up at the airport, but came soon when we called. Be sure to check your bill: I'm sure they did not do it on purpose, but they made a mess with ours
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip: Better going to Rinca than to Komodo if you want to see the Varans

Good food and to top it off an eco hotel to boot. Fabulous.

Friendly helpful staff

Mosquito net and mosquito repellant provided - a neccesity in April
the building is looking a little run down. otherwise, had a great stay here, but a little too far from town for next visit.

Environmentally friendly hotel away from town

Service with a smile from helpful staff
The Bajo Komodo Eco Lodge is a quiet escape from the main town. Easily accessible by car or motorbike it is a tranquil place to enjoy the natural beauty of Labuan Bajo. The reception staff is knowledgeable and can recommend and organize wonderful tours which give you the chance to experience the beauty of West Flores firsthand. Thanks to the staff’s guidance and familiarity I was able to see two unique places I would not have otherwise visited. There is more to Labuan Bajo than diving and Komodo and it is worthwhile river Nanga Na’e to take some time to visit the Cunca Rami waterfall and the river Nanga Na’e. Before arriving at Cunca Rami there is a one hour drive over and around the mountains. After one hour on the main road there is a turn off onto a well worn road that is passable only by motorbike or four wheel drive during rainy season. There are several villages along the way and spectacular scenery. Stop and take pictures of the breathtaking panorama and the unspoiled beauty of the area before arriving at Wersawe village. Wersawe is the end of the line for vehicles and is where the trek to the waterfall begins. A local guide, from the village, accompanies anyone wishing to see the waterfall. The Cunca Rami waterfall is reached after a one hour trek through rice fields, jungle, and rocky streams. It was a wonderful adventure and well worth the effort. It is an impressive waterfall with cool refreshing water. It’s essential to relax and cool off before returning to Wersawe because the climb back to the village is entirely uphill. A cruise up the river Nanga Na’e a in a local boat is a wonderful opportunity to see monitor lizards lazing on trees and swimming in the river and kingfishers flying from one bank to the other. After about 1.5 hours of sightseeing the boat stops at Mbrata village and the guide shows you around the village. There are goats, buffalo, chickens, and duck running around oblivious to people.
