for travellers who do not like resorts

One can still see that this once was an oustanding, great place. It's a bit old, maintenance works were going on which is good. Some obvious things still need urgently to be done (curtains,...). Staff is reasonable but doesn't ofer 5 star service. Although there are no big complaints, we feel this place is not 5 stars, rather 3,5

Great hotel 20 years ago

Beach access and main road
Had problems the first night with toilet; it would not flush.... Second night had problems with the shower; it did not have hot water. Both times the hotel did little to fix and lied when I asked for a refund. Hotel is run down and managed by staff who do not care about customers. Room was big; no view of beach and was NOT beach front. A lot of Chinese guest tours stay here.

Intimate beachfront hotel

Idyllic location with friendly staff.
warm welcome on arrival, and great villa. the hotel has about 12 villas, and is around 30 years old, however is well maintained. the villa was clean and spacious. the restaurant overlooks the pool, and is only metres to the beach. good breakfast, included,is either buffet or an american breakfast is also available. a good variety of water sports is available at extra charge. lovely friendly staff. we were offered late checkout until 7pm at no extra charge because there was no bookings for the villa for the following day.
Restaurant Tip: La De'Va Restaurant 20 metres from the hotel offers good food, free entre dish and 20% discount on future visits.

Small but luxury hotel

rooms, pool, service
i stayed there for one week. Pros: The hotel is composed of several bungalows that are all little suite with huge fancy bed, big bathroom with deep bath (little stair inside the bath), little sofa and tv. The pool is small but perfectly suited to the hotel, The service is very nice. As it is composed of only several rooms, the service is personalized and there is not a crowd of tourists. The beach is clean, and cleaned every morning.Despite being in a very touristic and busy area, it is very quiet. Cons: the sea area looks nice but it is mainly used for jet ski so it is a bit noisy, in addition, it is not pleasant to swim as the sand floor is covered with seaweed (i mainly staid by the pool)

Charming place with efficient service

Traditional style room with big sunk in bath, which opens into a cute private backyard. The private beach.
The staff were efficient. The breakfast had limited options but good food. The coffee was great! The room was charming. The private beach, that allows hours of sun bathing and relaxation, was to die for! Will recommend this place whole heartedly.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip: Negotiate and hire a car for the days you are sight seeing. It makes it more efficient specially when you have limited time.

Spacious and nice bungalow with good service crew

Friendly and helpful staff, good location for water activities
The maintenance is very good to keep the bungalows and surroundings nice and clean. The water sport activities are on the beach just behind the hotel. The service is good and smiling hotel staff are always there to give necessary help. The bungalow is very spacious and big bathtub is my favourite.

Charming, friendly, relaxing

Comfortable rooms, smiling staff
set amid many higher priced and much larger resorts, bali royal is smaller, private and very friendly. the staff do everything requested (and more) to make one feel welcome. the rooms are clean and comfortable and you know you are in bali and not in some random soul-less high priced hotel. the swimming pool is refreshing and clean, though the beach is, like so many in bali, not that great. the restaurant serves good food with a smile and is reasonably priced. it's quiet, relaxing and good fun. well worth a visit and exceptional value. wi-fi in pool area and bar and in open reception. rooms need bigger fridges. tvs a little dated, but these are small quibbles. a lot of water sports available nearby.
