Ok hotel

Location, price, quiet

The room was really cheap. The beds were not comfortable at all, no air con, suspicious sheets. The staff doestn't really speak english. The location is great, really quiet area, only 10' away from Khao San Road. Ok for just one night.

Average

old traditional wooden house, small courtyard with a tree and a few chairs, in one of the old, charming districts of Bangkok
4.3
Not comfortable, definitely not the best deal in terms good quality for money. My room (on the grand floor with so called garden view) turned out to be very noisy for 2 reasons: 1) the room has 2 small windows facing the court yard where people are chatting and smoking early in the morning... I had to keep the curtain closed all the time, and still had cigarette smoke smell getting into my room. 2) the wooden floor in the house cause every step to resonate. People getting up at 7 am and walking to the shower on the first floor sounded like elephant's walk! Besides the room's walls are built in dark wood, which has some charm but made the room very dark. Finally, the staff working at the reception was not engaging, seemed quite indifferent, the service felt impersonal and did not make me feel welcome. I left after two nights. Note: no food nor drinks provided onsite

Hot, stuffy noisy rooms & terrible staff

Location
4.3
It started off badly at check-in. The room wasn't ready and they lied about what time we could check in so that was very inconvenient. Also, the staff acted like we were bothering them anytime we approached the desk and even avoided us a couple of times! The house itself is nice since it's all made of wood BUT it keeps the heat in and feels like a sauna. You can also hear everything that moves or other people's conversations. Our room was above one of the toilets. I think there's probably better guest houses in the area.

Pleasant, friendly staff and guests. Nice and quiet but just around corner from Koahsan Road. No music or 'visitors' allowed, so safe with your belongings

Cheap but definitely not cheerful!

Location was ok. Clean room. Powerful shower.
4.7
In 5 months of travelling these were the two worst nights sleep we've had. For a start the bed was uncomfortable and although the room was clean, the blanket was revolting and far too small for a double bed. The noise from the surrounding rooms, particularly above us, was unbelievable. Any slight movement could be heard clearly. The room was also incredibly hot and the floor standing fan provided was completely insufficient to cool the room. The staff weren't unpleasant but we always felt as though we were bothering them with any queries we had, they looked unimpressed and were unhelpful. The shower was very good but only cold water. No toilet roll or soap provided. Lastly there was a pretty bad smell of sewage in the room on a couple of occasions. All in all if you're only staying a night and want a cheap place to stay it's bearable, but just a short walk from here we found a considerably nicer place for only a few baht more.

Pleasant Stay

Location, friendly staff, clean rooms
6.7
Bangkok House is located near Samsen Rd, which we considered as a perfect location, because its quite near the center of banglampoo but in a rather quiet backstreet. Staff was nice but didn't really speak english. Our room was rather big-sized and clean, though the lightning was a bit dim. All in all it was a pleasant stay at Bangkok House and we would recommend it for budget travellers.

Don't stay here

Location. Private bathroom.
3.3
Room onto smoking area, so noisy and smelly. Mattress protector was plastic so made it sweaty and bed had bed bugs. One single blanket for double bed. Floor fan not ceiling fan so it didn't cool the room down at all. As the room was on ground floor and the floors/ceiling are wooden anyone who walked on it or dropped anything upstairs it made a loud noise for us so had trouble sleeping. Asked for hot tea and the guy said ok and then went back to sleep. Remember us of the beginning scene of Apocholypse Now where Sheen was sweaty in a dark dank room. I've stopped in better for the same price. Agoda should take this off their listings.
