Pleasant stay

quiet area of town, lovely garden, easy to rent e bike close by
We stayed 6 nights in this hotel (intending to be 4 but one of us was sick so had to extend). It is a pleasant place - staff are reasonably friendly (particularly waiting staff) but english is fairly limited. The gardens are beautiful, peaceful (except staff in our second room were quite noisy walking back and forth). The rooms are quite nice - clean but as with many Asian hotels, the electricity plugs are often hard to find or not easy to use, light switches are sometimes on the other side of the room to where you enter, no side bed lights or have to get out of bed to get to switch to turn them off. We are used to this living in Asia but some people might be put off (very likely all hotels in the area have similar problems). Breakfast pretty average - buffet but not a lot of selection, nothing special but adequate. We would stay here again - despite being pricey it is probably in line with other hotel prices in Burma

Good value, but far from everything

Breakfast, hotel grounds, value
The Bawga Theiddhi is a beautiful hotel in New Bagan. The rooms are comfortable and there is a stunning pool and breakfast area. The hotel does seem to have a sewage problem and our room would smell awful every now and then. Some staff members would come in and spray some fragrance but it didn't eliminate the smell. Although we enjoyed our stay and overall felt this hotel was a good deal and a very peaceful respite in Bagan, it was a little annoying to have to take cabs everywhere. The hotel will also help you to arrange electric bikes which I think are a better option. Biggest tip is to stay in Old Bagan if you can afford it. You will cut down on travel time and make the most out of your stay.

over priced

good beds , clean rooms breakfast ok.
Did not like and would not stay again . Food other then breakfast is awful. The pool was it was a dark green color and cloudy all the time. and they claim they have wifi but only in their lobby nowhere else in the hotel can you get wifi. overrated and overpriced

Moderately overpriced,Decent location,Nice Grounds

The beds were Comfortable, the grounds/pool was pretty, and the spa was good.
The food is ok but it made us want to venture out for a different meal when we could. With that being said, the food situation in any of these locations is "descent" at best. Another drawback is that the food is extremely expensive compared to the outside food costs. I think the Tom Yum Soup was 6USD! Location. Because of BTH being in New Bagan, you will be away from the temples but here is a great reason to stay here; the hot air balloons land in a field about 200 meters away. There are no Electric Bikes immediately on site but within 5-10 minutes they will call one for you. I believe the E bike was 6USD for a half of a day and the mountain bikes were an alarming 1.50 per hour USD. The staff are warm and friendly, just like everywhere in Burma. Unfortunately their English is decent so getting good recommendations about food and what to see and how is not going to happen. I did walk next door to the Blue Bird and the manager spoke perfect English and was able to recommend a few places to eat. The room we had was nice and clean. The bed was a queen/king size and not the two beds pushed together that you frequently get while traveling in South East Asia. They give you two free bottles of water each night but the mini bar is stocked and quite expensive. My main complaint with the room is the bathtub/shower. There is a bathtub with a shower head and if you were to stand it would spray on your stomach, so you either sit or kneel and shower or you sit and use it as a wand over your body. The SPA. They have a spa on site and it's relatively inexpensive. A 60 minute massage was 25 dollars and was pretty good. The woman was extremely strong and it was "deep tissue". Good choice if you want to stay local as we couldn't find another option around town.

Great place to stay

Away from the main area so quiet, lovely eating breakfast in the garden, very helpful staff.
Down a quiet track of New Bagan but easy access into the town and the rest of the Bagan area. We had a beautiful bungalow in the garden area overlooking the pool (however the pool was freezing cold!). One of the Advantages of this hotel is that an e-bike hire outside the hotel was the cheapest in the area.

Stay somewhere else if you have options

The Bawya Theiddhi Hotel is billed as a new hotel, it's not. It's an old hotel which was renamed 3 years ago. We struggled to find taxi drivers who knew it, and I think this is probably indicative of how few people stay here. The hotel itself is very dilapidated. It's desperately in need of a refurb. On arrival we had no hot water, and it also took two hotel staff some time to fix our aircon. Asides the option of having an omlette made for you, the breakfast is very poor. The food is all fried within an inch of its life, or has been sitting out for way too long, whatever time you go down to the dining room. The staff try to be helpful, but their English isn't great, and both mornings we were up early we came down to staff sleeping on the sofas in reception. They're obviously desperate to make money as they charge for a map of Bagan that other hotels give for free. Until the place has been refurbished and the staff some more training, I'd stay somewhere else.

relaxing, quiet

early check-in, restaurant choices, swimming pool
we had a pleasant stay in the hotel. we arrived at around 5am from yangon and we didn't have to wait for the official check-in time and before 7am, we were already in our assigned room. the staff was nice and tried to talk us in tagalog after learning that we're filipinos. the only thing that bothered me was the placement of the bed since it was directly in front of the front door. if you know feng shui, you'll understand this. i had to leave some of the lights on while we were sleeping, hehe.
