Bad dirty rooms hard beds and lazy staff

the restaraunt was very nice and fairly cheap
the overall standard of our "deulux" room was very poor. The shower head was broke and water squirted out like a tap not a shower, the bathroom/shower floor looked dirty/mouldy, like it hadnt been cleaned/disinfected in months. We asked for the floor to be cleaned and the maid moped the floors in our bedroom/bathroom using water from the toilet. I watched her dip the mop in the loo and then mop the floors with it. We have a 1 year old and words cannot describe how angry this made me. Then the builders started replacing the roof tiles above our room - bang bang bang all day - this was the last straw. We told the manager we were not happy and he was just not interested in our issues - this was not a language problem as my wife speaks perfect chinese - it was just him not wanting to do anything about anything. Avoid this hotel at all costs.

A Wonderful Experience!

This hotel is located close to the beach in a beautiful enclave of small hotels and hostels. It has the best art work of any hotel I know of and excellent food and friendly staff.
My wife and I completely enjoyed our stay in this hotel. It's an easy walk to the beach but the hotel is so pleasant that you may want to just hang out at the pool, which is lovely. There is also a poolside bar so you won't get thirsty. The hotel has multiple buildings filled with beautiful paintings and sculpture. The furniture is made of heavy wood pieces salvaged from old wooden fishing boats and is beautiful. The landscaping and grounds are also lovely. We plan to go back again soon.

a delightful place to stay

quite, beautifully decorated and maintained
An excelent getaway hotel. Short walk to the beach, bicycled everywhere that we had to go. Excellently presented and maintained. Staf were extremely helpful and the food was great.

Lovely hotel with everything provided

The art, the ambience
Our stay here was very relaxing and pleasant. English was very limited but even so staff went out of their way to make our stay pleasant. Cleanliness of the hotel was outstanding. The hotel proveded a free shuttle service to Silver Beach which we visited briefly. The hotel is set amongst unoccupied mansions in a compound which makes it sometimes hard to find even for taxi drivers.

All the best features are outside the room

peace and quiet
Hard to assess this place. Its isolated and in winter nothing to do in and around the hotel. In summer it might present some value but I would not stay there again in any season. It does not really feel like a hotel,it feels more living in a house in the suburbs. It is surrounded by large empty houses and a fair walk to the beach which is littered with semi completed monstrosities. I dont know whats happened in BeiHai. It was the same the last time I was there, you get a sense of white elephant in the Silver beach precinct. Anyway on a brighter note I did have a reasonable meal there in the empty dining room and the art work and furnishing in the spacious living areas adjacent our room were superb.

Small and neat hotel

Clean, efficient service
This hotel can be difficult to find as it is hidden behind the main road. Arriving at 3 am the taxi driver has some difficulties in finding this hotel.
