no hot water, staff rude

location
5.3
The only good thing about hotel was location. I had small bottle of rum for gifts they took them off me telling me " no drinking in room if you want a drink, you drink in bar" . the price of cup of coffee in this dump was $5. Demanded $50 deposit for room key I had to fight and only gave them $10,this I had to wait 1/2 a hour for to be refunded at 7am no one at reception and had a early flight. No hot water you and go to toilet take shower and brush your teeth at same time. No enclosed shower so water goes all over and it was March and cold, room heater didn't work property. They were in your room every day but didn't clean it. I'm 54 fat old American woman. I lived and worked here 20 years ago and wanted to return to see the changes. what they were looking for in my room I don't know. Very upset to be treated in such a way. I left no valuables in room. I'm sure you can find somewhere better.

Amazing Location!

the location was perfect, the hotel was really cool in traditional Chinese style, and the staff were helpful

No English TV, but the internet was fast, the location was central to everything and the room was clean. The shower was substandard but pretty normal for Asia. Overall very good value for money

Old World Hotel

Location, Price, original

Once I got the heater to work - the room was toasty. the room was very small, enough room for the bed and 2 small bed stands. Shower is part of the bathroom wall, not separate, floor is in bad shape because water is released all over the bath and out the door. They do have free wi-fi in the rooms... Restaurant is fun, good coffee and breakfast. Stay is very nice and speaks English well enough to get along if you don't speak Mandarin. On a very old world, Beijing street with local fair -- shopping abounds -- street food good dumplings! Short walk from Tiananmen Square. Transportation is easy -- good walking and seeing locals. Difficult to get to hotel by car must not take a lot of baggage, you will have difficulty getting there.

Super convenient location. Public tpt, shpg n food

Location, walking dist to Forbidden Palace n Qianmen. Cheap eats galore. A hutong museum n 24hr Starbucks very nearby. No loud n noisy Chinese tourists seen during my 3 dy stay;mainly foreigners.
8.3
Enjoyed the local flavors n convenience of hutong. Hotel is quiet even in common areas like the courtyard n cafe. It is clean n airy. Aircon is strong .Only wish is owner will upgrade bathroom so it won't get flooded after a bath. Had problem with toilet flushing too.Bedsheet is thin n lumpy. Wifi doesn't work too well in room. Had to use IPad in the courtyard. But for the reasonable rate n super convenient location, i have no complaints.

Really nice Chinese-theme hotel in perfect location. Just 2min to Qianmen Street and metro station. Ideal location for visiting Beijing and area. Great personel with experience and very helpful. Nice clean rooms and good food in restaurant (really good :) ). Only 1 small sugestion is to add more chinese food to restaurant menu. I recommend for 100%!

AT A DIFFERENT HOTEL!

central location, others cant say
5.3
We arrived only to wait 20 minutes to be acknowledged by the reception staff who were dealing a western client (later found out she had been there for an hour trying to check in) When we were finally served, we were told that despite booking and paying in advance online, they had no available rooms. We were then forced to carry our heavy luggage (this hotel is in a pedestrian area - no car access) around the corner to another hotel, called King's Joy. In fact this turned out to be in a better location, on an easily accessed road and with reasonably clean and serviceable rooms. Once there our booking was handled fairly efficiently, and I assume the two hotels are of a similar standard, but it is NOT ACCEPTABLE to take money in advance for rooms you do not have.
