Major Safety Concern_Watchout All Travellers

The Beach/ The Beach Bar/ Break Fast
We Had a Scary Life Threatening Experience: We are a family of 4 members (2 Kids - ( 9 & 6 Yrs) & Wanted to go on a round the island boad trip inclusive of a snorkelling session. Since the hotel counter was fully booked, we reserved from the Tioman Tourism counter located at the Hotel itself. We started off - 2hrs into the sea and realised that the boat guys were lost in the sea. further 2 hours of riding until they ran out of fuel. YES, we (8 members from the Hotel) were lost in the Sea. the Boat was not equipped with any equipment that can find direction/ contact base (other than a basic mobile phone). the excuse given was that this happened due to the Haze from the Indonesian forest fire. Fortunately, we had smartphones & the place we stopped had limited mobile service. This helped us to contact the hotel (answered after 8 missed calls) & give our specific location (20KM off the island into the sea) - YES, 20KM! Afte 2 hrs of initiating contact, the Tourism board & Hotel rescue boats located us. The rescue boat captains stated that if it was not for the mobile phones & the location numbers we gave, they wouldn't have found us. It was the most traumatic experience in our life & completely ruined our holiday. The hotel did apologise, but not sure if they understood the gravity of the incident, as life in the hotel went on as usual... bookings made at the same counter for the next day. A disaster waiting to happen!!! so watch out future guests!!!

Overrated. The best days are gone

Beach, snorkling, The rental guys from The Beach Service, The politeness and charm of The staff
Well, The Hotel Has had its best days in The past, The Rooms need a bigger renovation, especially the bathrooms. The optical appearance of The houses is somehow safaristyle. Its nice but could Be nicer. Wechoose to Upgrade ourself to Deluxe Chalet cause The superior Rooms were ridicoulously small and not sufficient for a longer Stay. We had from our Rooms just a few steps to The beach and a great view. The whole resort is just to big, so that there is not really a cozy and cool atmosphere. The Pool is nice, but offen crowded. The Gym is...sufficient.very good The Beach activities rental guys. Nice, fair and helpful. The staff : everybody very nice, polite and helpful, sometimes it Takes a bit to explain some wishes, but Thats ok. Food: breakfast is ok, try to avoid The Food for lunch Or Dinner. Its highprized and tastes boring. Not Bad....but boring...the whole Cooking appears as if someone just following recipes without ever having had cookinglessons. The Problem here seems to Be The Management, that is focused on Controlling The guests about their Vouchers Or The Limit of pooltowels one Takes...all in all it could Be a marvelous place...but this is an example for missing chances. What was cool: The Beach, the snorkling, The healthy nature underwater, The cool Giant lizards and Monkeys around The Hotel, our room was ok, Tips: eat outside The Hotel, don't Support The expansive hotelshop, book Trips outside of The resort. When You Are Young...come over a Weekend when many Kids from Singapore and KL Are around. Would we book there again? No. Definetely not.

wonderful place to relax

location, pool, breakfast buffet
Had a nice pleasant stay. Rooms are ok, the chalet like setting is nice & pleasant to the eyes. Breakfast buffet is great.. we were there 4 mornings and they had a different wide spread each day! Quite refreshing to see that. Service was good EXCEPT on Saturday. This is understandable because the crowd suddenly peaks on Saturday with weekend getaway tourists who arrive Fri pm & leave Sun. On Saturday, it was hard to get a waiter to serve us anything, but on other days they were perfectly attentive & in general we enjoyed a nice, relaxing stay. They arranged all the tours/drives for us at reasonable prices.

Hazey Weekend

Pool bar, sea view, kampung
Hazey due to Indonesia so spoilt the views. Still had a cracking stay, making he most of snorkelling and renting a jeep to the other side of the island through the Forrest. Eat at local kampung down the road one night and would highly recommend. Hotel was basic, staff were ok and prices were reasonable.

Great location for snorkelling!

Food, snorkelling, leisure
Berjaya is one of the bigger, more commercial and more expensive resorts on Tioman. It is comfortable and has a lot of activities such as tennis, golf, snorkelling, diving, a games room with pool tables, table tennis etc. The dining "hall" is large and has an excellent selection of food, and dinner times were serenaded by a trio of musicians who wandered from table to table. Being located right next to Renggis Island is excellent, as this is probably one of the best islands to snorkel at with lots of variety of both coral and fish very close to the surface. We also snorkelled off the beach and found lots of spots of corals and fish between the resort and the island.
