Excellent location, basic accom, good value

Free use of kitchen and laundry facilities, friendly helpful staff, stones throw from Bondi junction and Westfield, Oxford street shopping,
modest accommodation in a great location, right on the main road near a cross road, so fairly noisy first thing in the morning. very friendly new owners had just taken over the business and were about to start on some renovation work, so in a few months time the place should be in better shape. i would definitely stay there again given the easy transport links and value for money. only things were- the broken shower door downstairs which i expect they'll fix shortly as they update the place and the room was very dusty in the nooks and crannies- under the bed and desk. again, the property was only just taken over by new management, so hopefully they will resolve these issues. for the price, i didn't find these things a problem. lovely clean towels and fresh sheets made it feel like a hotel but really it's like a self catering apartment/shared house. shampoo in the bathroom and milk in the fridge were welcome touches. they made us feel at home. also the best free wifi we had in our whole trip around australia. great job.
Hotel Feature Tip: Buy your own washing powder and use the washer and dryer/outdoor hanging facilites for free. We were lucky to get a queen sized room upstairs which was very comfortable and quite spacious. We shared a bathroom with one other room. Shop at the local woolworths (basement of westfield) or coles and cook from the shared kitchen to save money. There are good basic materials and a large fridge freezer. Really felt at home there! The guy looking after the place is very helpful so don't be afraid to ask for advice or help with recommendations.

greta location at a reasonable price

location and friendly staff
I got caught short and had to find a place to stay in Sydney on a Sat night with only a week's notice. Not an easy thing to do on my budget! The gateway was a fine place, if a bit basic. The pro's: Location, friendly staff & helpful, spotless facilities (esp important with shared showers and toilets) The con's There was no one in the office when I got there, but one of hte other residents called and they were there within 5 minutes. They had just had new digital tvs installed - but teh antenna connection wasn't working so I only had 2 stations to watch. There was no garbage bin in the room.

Clean hotel with free wifi, not far away fro beach

Free wifi,clean,convenient
I spent a happy time in Bondi. Since we changed our schedual before our departure. It is difficult to book a suitable room in Sydney. Bondi is a clean hotel with high performance cost ratio.

Great location with large room

Friendly owner that respected privacy, spacious room with TV
Bondi Gateway was a nice place to rest your head after a day in the city. The bed was comfortable and lying on the polarfleece cover with my girlfriend after a big day on the town was nice and refreshing. The owner and other guests were lovely and very welcoming, and did their best to make sure I felt at home, which is refreshing. For a hostel, it's top notch, and I highly recommend it, given its close proximity to both Bondi Beach and the Bondi Junction train station. I didn't pay for the cooked breakfast in the mornings but I could smell it from upstairs and it smelled amazing.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip: Don't stay out too late, because the trains to Bondi stop running at about midnight, and the line passes through King's Cross, which can be very dangerous at night. But definitely go to Circular Quay and have an explore in the late afternoon. There are free ferries running from in front of the Museum of Contemporary Art which make for fleeting romantic cruises.
