For nature lovers

Beautiful setting, peaceful
Stayed here in both the main building as well as the non-advertised cabins. The wooden cabins are rundown and the hot water didn't work. I accidentally left behind something valuable in the room and contacted them to see if house keeping found it but they never responded. Staff honesty called into question. The golf course is totally unplayable if it rains because it is very soggy and wet, grass is also unevenly cut and there are bumps too. Setting is beautiful and that's about it. If you are not a nature lover, there isn't much to do here except to relax and enjoy the fresh air. Access is difficult up a dangerously winding road and far away from town. There is no small shop to buy anything so bring all that you need such as snacks. The restaurant food is 100% vegetarian, very expensive and not very nice. Breakfast is included and is the same every day - eggs, bread, buns, a fried tomato and a hash brown with a cup of coffee or tea. Some of the staff are friendly but most of them are not well trained in customer service, no greeting whatsoever and continue to talk on the phone even when you stand in front of them waiting to check in. Nice place for nature and relaxing in a beautiful setting but there are many other places near Kuching to do just that, cheaper and easier to get to.

Forests, friendliness, and fresh air

Ever-helpful staff; magnificent mountain setting; good wholesome food
I have stayed here before. Since last year the menu has enlarged and there is greater variety. The staff are as welcoming and friendly as ever. For someone like me with a love of natural landscapes and an interest in wildlife, the Resort is as good as it gets.

The rainforest on your doorstep

Wonderful location for lovers of primary rainforest; friendly, helpful staff; semi-outdoor dining
This Resort lets you experience tropical rainforest (you are 1 degree north of the equator here) without tents and mosquito nets. There are the facilities you would expect of a 3-star hotel, with a relaxed atmosphere and what looked to me (a non-golfer) a challenging and well-maintained golf course. For someone wanting to explore the wildlife of the forest it was the ideal location. The only setback was a shortage of water after four weeks without rain; then there were two storms and all was well again.

Birding paradise

comfortable rooms, great staff, wonderful nature
The birding here is fantastic. Many endemic species. I saw about 50 species while I was there. Surrounded by beautiful rainforest. On the border with Kalimantan. Very comfortable beds. Great staff.

Resort with jungle trek and high view

Cool temperature & jungle at door step
It was a long (1 hour) journey to go up to the highlands. It takes 15-20 minutes just to travel from foothill to resort. I arranged from taxi to pick me up from Kuching city and send me all the way up to resort, as advised by the staff at the resort. I forgot that the temperature on highland was cool, hence did not have sufficient appropriate clothing. It was raining on the day that I check-in. There was a lot of fog/mist in the area. It was just like a walk in the clouds! You can see the 'clouds' moving towards, into and away from you! That was a refreshing experience for me. The down side of this 'cloudy' experience was that I was unable to participate in the night walk. The guide explained that it will be virtually impossible to see anything. Unsure if it was due the to fog, wifi at lobby was weak. There was NO wifi in room. Even as a single traveller, I find the room small. There was only a small coffee-table and no writing table. Luckily there was still a small stand that I can place my luggage on. There was no hair-dryer in the room and the wooden window door was not moving smoothly. There was no tv in the room, initially, I thought it will be very boring. However, I found out that it was more comfortable and relaxing to play soothing music. The weather cleared the next morning. I went on a guided jungle trek. It was raining the previous night. The ground was wet and slippery but it was still enjoyable. I told my guide that I was interested in mushrooms & fungi and he was considerate enough to look-out, show and stop for a photo-shoot. That slowed the pace and extended the duration of the trek. The resort is at the Sarawak-Kalimantan border. It offers a good view of the Kalimantan from the look-out point. Heard from the guide that in certain months, hornbills can be sighted from the look-out point. I only regret was that I didn't have time to try the spa as I only stayed for 1 night

Unbelievable scenery

Great Jacuzzi and the food was good
this hotel was superb and the location was out of the world. i spent 4 days there and did all the jungle treks which took me hours. the jungle was surreal and it was a great experience and was certainly a great way to unwind after a hectic 5 weeks in thailand. if you like golf then this place was certainly unique. the only downside was that there was no tv in the room only because i wanted to watch the olympics and the room was a little small however what a great experience.
