Pretty good deal for a place to crash

Reception, room & bathroom cleanliness, price
Need a room to crash in for a Friday/Saturday night in NYC. Note this is actually a hostel and officially does not allow any NY state residents to get a room, guests also not allowed after 8PM on the policy. I took the cheapest deal I could find, a shared room with double bunk beds. Room included two lockers, floors have vinyl tiles, no carpeting. Roommate from Germany checked in a few hours after me around 2AM. Was able to sleep pretty peacefully, but of course I was exhausted each night. Bed sheets were changed the next day, no sign of bed bugs. Bring your own toiletries, including soap, shampoo! Used the floor's shared bathroom/shower at 6AM, no issues with hot water or waiting for other people. The lobby/lounge area is pretty nice with sofas, TV, bar. I accidentally left a gold chain/cross hanging in the locker after I checked out, front desk did find and retrieve it and put it inside the office to pick up with ID. So I'm pretty happy with this hostel, would stay there again.

Pretty good memory

Location, price and a chance to meet traveller's from various parts of the world
The staff is welcoming and helping...good location, but keep an eye on ur own safety--especially when you are alone on the blocks nearby at night!!! Overall a good choice to stay in NYC concerning the price and location

best upper west side hostel

location, staff, common area
The best hostel in upper west side. It is right at the corner of broadway, and 2 blocks away from 103rd subway station. Lots of eateries nearby. Very friendly staff. Special mention to Eunice. Customer service was hotel like, even if it's a hostel. They assisted me with my luggage, and was very flexible when it comes to room transfer. Common area was cozy. Lots of food on the fridge, but it is a hostel, and really cheap for an upper west side location.

cheap. close to subway.
The only bad thing about this hotel is the extremely slow elevator that only holds 3 people. And the radiator can be kinda loud at times. Also the walls are paper thin. But it's cheap and in a nice area, close to subway and places to eat!

Great value for the price

location, price, location
I wanted a low-cost place to stay in Manhattan's Upper West Side. The hotel is quite old, the room was small, and I didn't mind at all. I didn't spend much time in the room as I was out exploring the city, especially Central Park, which is a short walk away. The staff are awesome and very helpful. This hotel is bare-bones but a great place to stay if you're only going to be sleeping there. NYC is awesome, get out of your room and explore it!

Nothing literally nothing
Horrible I got thee the room was small and dirty. There was a tv that didn't work there is only one bathroom on every floor that every one has to share. There is. No phone to call lobby. So I went downstairs to the lobby to ask about the tv the girl (she looked about 19yrs old) offered me a 5% discount. Then I decided i just don't want to stay I can defiantly get my money's worth else where. The girl said she can't give me a refund. I was literally in the room for two min and she won't give me my refund. So I ask to speak to a manager she says the manager is not around. I said is there some one I can call she said no. That was it I was stuck in my crappy dirty room for the night. The paint was chipping in the room it smelled like bleach there was stains on the covers. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone
