Gaudi's Influence
Although breakfast is offered I did not partake since my needs simply required a place to sleep and shower - this was perfect. A small refrigerator was installed which was helpful as was the safe where I stored my valuables (as other reviewers have remarked, take with you only what you need as pickpockets are notorious in both Barcelona and Madrid). Water pressure was adequate and the water was hot which is a good thing. Two Metro stations are nearby and those give you wonderful access to anywhere in the city if you are not in a rush. If you are in a rush then don't even try driving since parking is limited and the roads can be confusing when trying to see which one you are on; some road signs are nearly impossible to quickly locate.

Good price but don't expect much else...
Friendly neighborhood
barcelona is a large city with many places to stay. if you want the "touristy" place to stay, this is not it. this hotel is situated next to a large hospital in a quiet neighborhood. we enjoyed that aspect of it because in barcelona, if you are a tourist in a crowded area you are a target of the many pick-pockets that are out there. beware of crowds, especially if you take the metro. do not carry your wallet with you or it will get stolen. rather, take some euros with you and leave your wallet, purse, cell phone, etc, in the hotel's safe. if you don't, half of you will regret it. cool things that are a must see: la familia sagrada church, the gaudi museum, and the montjuic palace and olympic stadium. two of the most "gawdy" things you will see in your life. don't get suckered in to eating tapas. they are overrated and expensive. do try shawarma and if you can find a nice italian restaurant, go for it. if you do eat spanish food, stick to paella. we visited madrid about two months ago and if i had my choice between the two, pick madrid. watch your step; they don't pick up after their dogs and there a thousands of them. also, if you speak spanish, don't expect much. they speak catalan and it is not the same.

Basic and functional
Good quality for price.
Located slightly outside of the centre, so for a regular tourist might not be the ideal. Rooms not very sound proof, so during high season it might be a bit noisy - off season was not a problem.
Clean, comfortable, basic facilities and services provided. Location was good for me but might be too far from the historical centre and most sights for a more touristy visit. The service was very friendly, and everybody spoke english. I had no complaints of anything. Price was actually even lower than I expected. Note that I did not eat at the restaurant, but it was not possible not to grade food/dining.

Hotel cercano a Sagrada Familia y Hospital San Pab
