Staff were so friendly and welcoming it was like staying with friends not in a guesthouse. The location is great. The guesthouse itself is beautiful
We loved our stay here we only wish we could stay longer. The location is great so easy to see all the main sites, set in the beautiful old hanok village and only 10 mins walk from a subway station, with a bus that stops outside the door if you can't manage the walk! The family who own the guesthouse are so lovely and welcoming it was as if we were staying with friends not in a guesthouse. Breakfast was lovely, traditional Korean breakfast. We also had chance to dress up in hanbok which was fun and took loads of photos! We would definitely stay here again if we came back to Seoul. The room is lovely and cosy (some people might find it small but it was perfect size for us and exactly what I would expect for a traditional house). We shared a bathroom with the other double room but never had to wait to use it and it was always spotlessly clean. Overall 10/10

Super friendly service

The location was beautiful, the management is incredibly friendly, the environment is at once traditional and modern
Excellent stay. The management was exceptionally friendly and helpful - very fluent in Chinese and English, gave great recommendations for things to see and organizing travel, and even accommodating to particular needs like having fresh milk for example. We were also generously upgraded to a nicer room because of a cancellation. The breakfast was great, with traditional foods. The only negative I can think of is that the room was a bit too bright from an outside light which stayed on. Altogether it is a wonderful place to stay.

Amazing stay in Seoul!

Friendly, lovely food and great location
We had an unforgettable stay Buchonmaru! Siyoung and his family showed us a great time and really made us feel like home. We learned alot about korean tradition and history and had some truly amazing food.

Comfortable, friendly, traditional
It is a pity that we only manage to stay one night due to our tight schedule. It was a very pleasant stay and a true experience of traditional Korean stay. Jason and his family is very kind, friendly and helpful. Will definitely stay here again the next time I am back in Seoul.

Big Bang for your buck!

Food, cleanliness, staff
Absolutely pleasant. It's a family-run guesthouse that truly embodies the spirit of a gracious host. The food made from scratch and served fresh. Wish I was able to book my stay here longer! I'll be back here when I come back to Korea!

Home Sweet Hanok

Friendly, clean, authentic
From the very first moment we walked in to this lovely little Hanok on the top of the hill ('maru' in Korean - we learned so much this trip!) we felt we were treated like family. Jason's (Siyoung) English is perfect and we started our stay with a mini history lesson that left us confident we would be fluent in Korean by the end of the trip. That did not quite happen but Jason proved to be helpful time after time - he could be reached through email or WhatsApp throughout the stay to answer questions, help with booking tours or just getting directions. The major highlight for us was breakfast each morning. Our Korean Mom (or Han-mom as we affectionately called her) made the MOST delicious food each morning and we got to enjoy this wonderful meal with our fellow guesthouse traveler's which was very comforting when so far away from home. From dried pollack soup to mini kimchi pancakes it was a feast every morning that left us full for hours. We cannot stress enough how caring the family at Bukchon Maru guesthouse is! One evening we inquired where we could find good galbi in the neighborhood and our Korean mom could not quite give is directions in English -- but that did not stop her -- she walked us to the restaurant. Then, once we got there, she called Jason and had him translate her menu suggestions and they put in an order for us. It was exactly what we had been craving and the restaurant was wonderful! Finally, the Hanbok experience was SUPER cool. They have many, many beautiful traditional Hanboks and two friends of the family and our Han-mom helped us dress. We then spent the next 40 minutes taking pictures in every corner of the Hanok, as well as the street outside. The pictures will make a wonderful memory!!! The location was great and within walking distance of tons of sights, shopping, transportation, and food. We are from New York and Bukchon Hanok Village is very much the Brooklyn of Seoul. Overall, amazing authentic experience!!!
